(Can) Pours black with a small tan head. Great aroma - dark roast malt, coffee, nuts, maybe a hint of oak. Medium body with good carbonation. A nice balance of sweet and bitter. The bitterness is mainly dark roast malt and a burnt sugar dark toffee taste. There’s a surprising light candy sweetness in the background. Notes of coffee and red berries and maybe a hint of oak. Very drinkable.

440ml can. Pours pitch black with a dark brown head that doesn’t last. Aroma is boozy oak, rum and chocolate. Taste is similar but much more refined. Oak, vanilla, port, chocolate, plum brandy. Thick and luxurious. This is an imperial stout just how I like them, though with a lower ABV than the complexity might imply. Truly a fantastic beer.

Can - Chocolate, sweet and a bit of peat. Deep jet brown with a small brown head. Sweet and fudgey with some smokey Woody notes. No bitterness at all.

Tasting at Matt’s, can
Jet black color with brown head. Very nice aroma, wood, polenta, nuts, light apples. Juicy beer, robust and yet highly drinkable; liquid chocolate flavor, with a mild mellow vanilla touch from the oak, and roasted nuts in the final, with traces of liquorice and leather.
Excellent.

440mL can, pours black with a small tan head. Nose brings out lots of oak chips upfront, with a touch of toasted malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with the oak chips dominating upfront, with light sweetness and a little cocoa. Pleasant stuff, but in no way is this an upper tier stout. Solid stuff though.

Black with a tan head that fades but laces well. Roasted and spicy aroma with chocolate, licorice, oak. Oily, low carbonation. Much more chocolate (and vanilla) than suggested by the aroma. Licorice, some molasses, fudge, spices. Bitter and quite oaky at the end. Very nice.
