Viven Bruin is an improvement of the original recipe. The fine balance between malt and spices creates a surprising aftertaste. Brown ale with an aroma of chocolate and caramel.
This beer is the perfect meal companion. Properinge hops.

Aroma is quite toasty and malty. Flavour has sweet roasted malts, chocolate, caramel and a light fruitiness from the hop. Smooth, creamy feel.

33cl Bottle from ABS Drinks Winksele, ABV 6.1%. Reddish dark brown colour, off-white head. Aroma of caramel, raisins, plums, cocoa, light roasted malts. Flavour is likewise, dry, a bit dusty, not as sweet as the aroma suggests, bitter cocoa finish. Light-bodied. OK.

Bottled. Ambery brown colour with a mediumsized white foamy head. Aroma is caramel malts, some ripe fruits, mild toffee and slight wooden notes. Flavour is sweet malts, caramel, toffee and mild herbal and ripe fruity notes. Also some mild spicy notes as it warms up a bit. A bit watery as for the palate.

Cloudy brown beer. Thick off white head. Light frothy palate. Milk chocolate malt with a little coca cola sourness. Finishes light and soft. Good but in the shadow of the other beers from this brewery.

Brown colour with a decent white head. Smells caramel mostly. Tastes caramel mostly, quite sweet and some herbs. Slightly warming. Okay carbo, medium body. I don’t really like this style.

Brown 33cl bottle, best before 30-Sept-2010, drank during one of my radom beer reviewing evenings in early Oct 2010, some one week after its due date. Poured into my Westmalle chalice the beer appeared sludge like, the colour was coke-a-cola brown and it had the same over carbonated feel to it also. So we had a thick substance which I couldn’t see through, it didn’t get much better to be honest. I poured it slowly and very little if any sediment left the bottle, even so it was still a mess. The smell and taste was of sweet molasses, no hop content or interesting flavours to report, just a sweet (ish) malty beverage. Not sure where in Belgium I bought it, I’ll not be buying another though.
