Dark beer, almost black with creamy and brown foam. Rich and powerful beer with a very long after-taste. Very complex and still soft aroma. The high level of alcohol is very subtlety hidden. It is prepared with strongly roasted malt which gives its very special taste.

Bottle. A bunch of Val-Dieu beers with new labels has just shown up in Melbourne, so I guess they're freshish. Dark brown with a dense cm of pale beige head. Lots of singed toffee in the aroma, also dough, stewed fruit, light spices. Not all that sweet nor much more than medium bodied with pleasant singed notes, light fruity notes, spiced bitterness. Not much grunt for its strength but that's OK. Unusual, good.

Top notch world class beer. Probably would be even better if kept perfectly. Bold and super malty with all the belgian candi and phenols. Jumbo Antwerp
