Ola Dubh, meaning ‘Black Oil’ in Gaelic, is craftily created by taking our Old Engine Oil and maturing it in 16 year old Highland Park whisky casks. The process is far from simple, but the result is a beautiful brew with complimentary whisky notes and caramel shining through. All thanks to the labour of love of our master brewers.

Hops: East Kent Goldings, Fuggles, Galena
Malts: Lager Malt, Pinhead Oats, Roast Barley

Ola Dubh 16yr tasting notes: On the nose, Ola Dubh 16 has aromas of whisky and sweet roasted malt. The whisky forward flavour is rich with coffee, chocolate and caramel notes all shining through. This ale strikes a sensational balance of fruity sweetness with a complex bitter hop background.

Refrigerated 11.2 oz. brown bottle poured into a snifter. Black with small dark brown highlights and small beige head. Aroma is nice scotch, medium body, low carbonation, and a little lacing. Taste is dark chocolate, scotch, and some tobacco.

More tobacco and leather than the lost and found section of a biker bar. Some roast amd light caramel. Black pour with decent head. Oily consistency. Bitter amd slightly tangy finish. Bottle.

Flasche (33 cl) vom Bierzwerg. - Tiefes Schwarzbraun, fast schaumlos.

330ml bottle. Impenetrable black with a foamy tan head that mostly fizzed away quite quickly. Sweet, peat smoke aroma. Flavour is coffee, chocolate, smoke and quite dry in the finish. Excellent

At a tasting, many thanks, almost no head, pitch black color, flavor of biltong dried beer and dark sourdough bread with oxidsed and coffee hints in the back, flavor of chocolate, ash and charred wood with hints of vanila, prunes and halva. Really mellow and highly enjoyable.

Ink black, ruby highlights. Moderate tan head. Bubbly lacing. Nose: barrel, oak, iodine, peat. Medium to full body. Oily. Complex taste with notes mentioned for aroma. Light bitterness. Not as extreme as the 18 years version. In my opinion at least not worse than the latter.
