Ola Dubh, meaning ‘Black Oil’ in Gaelic, is craftily created by taking our Old Engine Oil and maturing it in 16 year old Highland Park whisky casks. The process is far from simple, but the result is a beautiful brew with complimentary whisky notes and caramel shining through. All thanks to the labour of love of our master brewers.
Hops: East Kent Goldings, Fuggles, Galena
Malts: Lager Malt, Pinhead Oats, Roast Barley
Ola Dubh 16yr tasting notes: On the nose, Ola Dubh 16 has aromas of whisky and sweet roasted malt. The whisky forward flavour is rich with coffee, chocolate and caramel notes all shining through. This ale strikes a sensational balance of fruity sweetness with a complex bitter hop background.

Lekre saker for snille gutter.

Shared bottle at Mi2 Extended at Cardinal 06.06.16. Reddish ebony. Small, brown head. Fine aroma of Scottish Whisky, sweet dark malt, dates and prunes - balanced with moderate bitterness. Ripe prunes in aftertaste.

Bottle @Bir&Fud Bottega (Rome). Pours oily black with a minimal head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, licorice, smoked notes. Flavour is medium sweet with a good bitter end and a smoked note. High body, medium to light carbonation. It didn’t age well...

Shared 11.2 oz. bottle. Pours dark brown with a dark beige head that quickly subsides. Nose is malt, whisky, oak, and dark fruit sweetness. Taste follows; with a roasted malt component and bitter chocolate notes. Medium body. Pretty good.

330ml bottle. Pours an opaque dark brown, almost black with a small, short lived, light brown head that laces. Aroma of roasted malt, smoke, coffee, oak and whisky. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, dark chocolate, licorice, coffee, smoke, whisky and oak with a dry, mildly bitter finish. Medium body with a creamy, smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Very nice.

Svart med lavt lys brunt skum. Lukter godt fatlagringen, eik, nøtter og noe sjokolade. Fyldig. Søtlig start, svisker og vanilje. Utover kommer en nøtteaktig avslutning. Noe alkohol i avslutningen.

At the Belgrade-Serbia tasting on 31/10/2015. Many thanks markoijelena for sharing this bottle. Pours black with a minimal ivory foam lowering super fast. Nose: a bit anonymous but still quite nice. Whiskey far away, a bit of vanilla but not a blast. Mouth: too much alcohol, not rich, more cola. Nice but not stunning.
