Koff Porter is a top fermented dark, almost black, unfiltered beer, with a malty roasted aroma. Four different malts are used for this brew: Pilsner, Münchener, coloured and brown malt. These make up the beer’s characteristic aromas: roastedness, chocolate, coffee and liquorice. Koff Porter is generously hopped with Saazer and bittering hops.

# 2 Finish beer at the moment // interesting - only one tick for Finland so far and it is a bad pale lager, so// 50 cl. bottle sampled @ GBF 2012 // lighter shade of black with a tanned head // smell is sweet, malt heavy, choc blended with some roasted malt and grounded and roasted coffee // tastes bitter, roasted malts, ground coffee, almost edging to a slight smoke with an underlying sweetness, lighter touch of fruits, touch burned, black chocolate and some hop adding bitterness to the finish // body is light touch too light for me // overall not a bad porter - seems like Carlsberg does make good beer

Black beer with a minimum head. Taste is toasty including coffee and chocolate. One of the best finnish beers. Musta olut kohtalaisella, beigellä vaahdolla. Tuoksu paahteinen, kahvinen ja hieman salmiakkinen. Varsin täyteläinen suutuntuma, hieman hiilihappoja. Maku kuivahko, paahteisen kahvinen, suklainen ja loppupuoleltaan hieman humalan katkeroittama. Toimiva portteri

Chevy Chase, DC 330ml ($4.50): Pours a black colour with a quickly dissipating brown head. Aroma is smoke and burnts malts, with maybe a little bit of that creme brulee sugar. A think I noticed a touch of licorice too. Taste is solidly bitter towards the end and leaves a delightful burnt malt aftertaste in your mouth for quite a bit. Really smooth up at the front, but starts to get heavier down. Hops are noticeable. On one hand, this is easy drinking, but on the other hand it rewards measured sipping. I can see why this is rated so high.

330 ml bottle courtesy of tkrjukoff. Consumed on November 19. Pours deep brownish black with a brown head that quickly dissipates while leaving some trace on the glass. Smell is sweet with chocolate, vanilla and cognac. Taste is sweet and fullbodied with roasted malt, coffee, a slight tartness and slight bitterness. Finish is dry and bitter with lots of coffee.

12 oz. bottle. Pours pitch black with a thin brown head. The aroma is chocolate, toffee, toast, dates, and licorice. The flavor is very sweet and roasty, with a little bitterness in the finish. The palate is medium to heavy, sticky, and grainy. Overall, this is a well made and delicious porter, with strong flavor and pleasant aroma.
