Koff Porter is a top fermented dark, almost black, unfiltered beer, with a malty roasted aroma. Four different malts are used for this brew: Pilsner, Münchener, coloured and brown malt. These make up the beer’s characteristic aromas: roastedness, chocolate, coffee and liquorice. Koff Porter is generously hopped with Saazer and bittering hops.

Flaska från SB. Svart vätska med kaffebrunt skum. Doft av rostat kaffe, choklad och sylt. Rökig i smaken med lite syltsötma. Nedtonad spritighet, rivig.

Bottle from Colonial Spirits Pours a solid black color with a smallish tan head that dissipates to a small cap. The aroma is heavy with charred wood, and vinous oxidation, supported by dark fruits, smoke and dark chocolate. Little to no hop aroma or alcohol presence. The flavor is a hint of sweet sugar up front that quickly becomes smokey with light fruits and a bit of wine like flavor. A charred ashy flavor sweeps in and lingers long into the finish of every sip. Medium body with a light to moderate level of carbonation and a full almost gritty mouthfeel. Big burnt fruity Baltic porter. I warmed up to it after a while, but it is not my favorite example of the style.

Refrigerated 33 cl brown bottle poured into snifter. Pours black with dark brown highlights and small light brown head. Nice dark chocolate aroma, medium body, low carbonation, and some thin small bubble lacing. Taste is rich chocolate, some roasty, earthy hop balance, and dry coffee finish. Not a big fan of the dry finish, but pretty good.

08.09.2013, 0,33l bottle @ home:
Nice brown creamy longlasting head. Aroma is slightly rich and sweet, dark malts, chocolate, caramel, coffee, toffee, licorice, nuts, hints of unripe banana. Taste is kind of unbalanced and all over the place, a little boozy, also a little "watery", dark malts, licorice, coffee, burnt caramel, grass, roasted grain. Mild longlasting bitterness. Nice, but I’d say some aging would do this one good.
