The Huvila X-Porter has a deep black appearance with a brown head. Creamy, slightly nutty, smooth chocolate malt nose. The taste is similar to its nose but also allows the taste of toffee to come through. The after taste then turns more chocolate with toffee. This is a rarity as not many top-fermented Baltic Porters are made any more. Our “hero” at the San Diego Int’l Beer Festival 2010! It is available on tap and in bottles in bars and restaurants across Finland. Since 2011, Huvila X-Porter is also available in shops in Estonia through Drink Baar. Last, but not least, Huvila X-Porter is also imported into the US through Shelton Brothers. Name has since changed to Malmgård X-Porter.

Bottle shared with ClubGonzo. Has a black colour with a small light brown colour. Aroma of coffee, soy sauce, hazelnuts and nougat chocolate, leather and some bbq-sauce. Lot of roastedness in the taste along with coffee, leather and dark chocolate. Has a slick and rich mouthfeel, and a light bitterness. Well-balanced and pretty nice.

Bottle from doorstepbrew. Pours almost black with small disappearing head. Sweet and fruity on the nose with dark berries and dried fruits. the taste is slightly drier with a grainy, fruity and rosted taste and a little sourness. Chocolate, toffee, coffee, plums, figs. Little bitterness. A great komplex and really tasty porter.

500 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours pitch black color with a nice 1-2 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Some decent spotty lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of big raisin, prune, roasted malt, molasses, caramel, toffee, cocoa, biscuit, earth, and herbal. Very nice and very fruity aromas here; with nice balance and complexity. Taste of dark chocolate, raisin, prune, roasted malt, biscuit, toast, caramel, toffee, molasses, wood, and light herbal. Lightly tart fruitiness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, dark fruit, caramel, molasses, herbal, and wood on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance of fruitiness with the roasted flavors; with no cloying sweetness. Very nice flavor complexity. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a creamy and fairly slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is completely hidden with pretty much zero warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very excellent Baltic porter! A lot more fruity than I was expecting, but it worked out damn well. No idea on the age of this one, but I would guess this ages nicely. Highly enjoyable.

Medium beige head. Opaque black body. Roasty milky licorice aroma with earthy chocolate notes. Dry-sweet roasty chocolate and licorice taste with earthy minty notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish caramelly earthy aftertaste with licorice notes. A bit anonymous, but still fairly full-flavoured. (0.5l draft at St. Urho’s Pub, Helsinki.)

Bottle, kiitos, rosenbergh. Almost black color with medium beige head. Roasted malt, chocolate, nuts in aroma. Coffee, black chocolate, roasted malt, toffee, earthy notes in taste. Long coffee bitter finish. Nice Baltic porter.

Smell of caramel and vodka. Black-brown colour with dark brown, creamy head. Bittersweet, also faint sourness. Sharp to begin with due to alcohol content. Softens quickly. In the beginning, some licorice/salmiak aroma. Strong aftertaste of coffee. Excellent.
