From a 500ml bottle on 30/7/2017. Pours a dark cloudy reddy amber, with a big foamy head. The nose is strong and all smoke and peat. The flavour is very peaty too, but also features some sweet cherry fruitiness, some dark fruit, with a decently firm bitterness coming over the top. It’s like drinking a sweet fruity Laphroaig. The palate is full is thick, with the carbonation moderate. This exhibits terrific balance and complexity. It’s flavour packed, extremely moreish and drinks so very easily. Reminds me a bit of one of all time fave Aussie beers, the HopDog Super Beast 2013, but a bit more delicate. Just outstanding.

Bottle, 13C. Clear bronze with a pale beige head that settles to a cm. Aroma of peat and bread, some herbal/ medicinal notes. Full-bodied, moderate carbonation. Sweet and bready with heavy but not overwhelming peat. Some raisins, medium sherry. A little floral and peppery as it dries out towards a modestly bitter finish. This is pretty well done but not really my sort of thing.
