Pours black with a small, quickly fading head.Nose shows oak, lemon and orange acidic notes, some spicy juniper and a little roast.Oaky flavours too. More roast as well along with an acidic hit, more juniper too. Very gentle roast, the other flavours take over.Needs more carbonation, all but flat at the moment.

Bottle. 13C. Dark brown with less than a coat of beige head. Mellow aroma of chocolate, light roast, prunes and berries. Very low carbonation. Oily, very low carbonation. Only a little sweet with dried fruits that run into light roasted coffee and chocolate. Earthy, gentle bitterness. Finish is gently oaky with some peppery notes which must be the juniper. Quite old ale-like and harmonious - the port’s playing a big role but doesn’t dominate. Maybe lacks a bit of body.
