On tap in nonic pint glass at British Beer Co. Appearance is clear amber without sparkle, finger-width creamy off-white head with fair retention and no lacing. Aroma is light fruit, grain. Taste is light fruit from the European hops, caramel malt and earth. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thin texture, soft carbonation and malty, crisp finish. Overall, representative of the style with nice mix of hop fruitiness and dryness mixed with the malts.

Bottle, 0.5l. Clear copper pour with two finger white head, produced by reckless and violent pour. Surprisingly decent retention. A bit peppery on the nose, some earthy hops, a bit of cardboard. Thin to medium body. Regular carbonation, slightly prickly. Texture is somewhat thick. As expected, taste is mostly bitter. Aroma a bit grainy, a bit of cardboard. Hops, earthy and grassy. Peppery. Lots of metallic acidity, mostly in the aftertaste. Slightly unpleasant, especially when it warms up. Overall, quite a mediocre effort. Drinkable when served cold, but otherwise... meh.

500 ml can into imperial pint glass, no can dating. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy medium orange/amber color with a small dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lasts the whole glass. Nice soapy lacing clings down the glass. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of honey, cracker, biscuit, herbal, floral, and grass; with lighter notes of caramel, toast, pepper, peach, pear, apricot, apple, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of pale malt and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of honey, cracker, biscuit, herbal, floral, and grass; with lighter notes of caramel, toast, pepper, peach, pear, apricot, apple, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal/grassy/spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of honey, cracker, biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice robustness and balance of pale malt and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from bitterness, lightly increasing through the glass. Light carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is a nice English pale ale. All around nice robustness and balance of pale malt and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; very smooth, clean, and pretty refreshing to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering, and well made style example.

2016 catch up - A best bitter that grew on me over 3 bottles and a couple of nights. Malt, bitter hops and perhaps a bit too much carbonation. It’s not one to seek out, but it is perfectly fine.
