A. Le Coq Porter has a strong taste and a rich aroma. It is a typical Baltic porter with the dominant flavour of roasted malt, but hints of black bread and caramel can also be felt. They are complemented by the nuance of dried fruit and dark chocolate in the end.

very light brown color. Lots of dark fruit and chocolate with dark bread notes. Light body fairly sweet. Not such an amazing depth but nice nose.

Fairly non-descript. Not bad, but not a whole lot going on in this one.

From random store in Estonia, during Metallica tour in Tartu. Not on video, but based on new checklist. Smell- weak, maybe roast, but quite non-specific. Foam- thin to medium, roast, weak bitter notes and some, some coffee-caramel. Head is medium, creamy white, brown, orange color. Appearance- clear, very dark red-brown color. Taste- weak roast and bitter notes, malt, maybe some roasted caramel? Hard to tell, generally quite malty, bitterness more in aftertaste. Drinkable, but nothing impressive, goes ok with some meat.

Bottle from a supermarket in Tallinn. Another MJ 500 down. Nose is subdued chocolate / cocoa, light soy sauce or Worstershire sauce, sea water, and light apple notes. Medium to dark brown with orange tints. Clear, with a low, thick head. Sweet, rich malt, chocolate, light caramel, miso, wood, lightly salty. It has that typical Baltic Porter umami to go with the chocolate. Body is smooth but not heavy. Slightly fruity too. A well-made and relatively typical Baltic porter. This is still a decent beer and rather representative of the style. today they have mostly gone big, while this is still just 6.5%. There is something bit run-of-the-mill about it, but I suppose that 20 years ago, when fewer of these existed, it would have been a good choice. Probably would be replaced by a much bigger example today.
