From a 330ml bottle on 10/5/2013. Pours a deep dark amber with a biggish head. Has an impressive aroma of toffee, caramel, rye bread and molasses. Flavour wise, it’s very malty and quite sweet, with the same features of the aroma present in the taste. The bitterness is modest, the body relatively full, and the carbonation medium. A rather good, quite meaty amber ale with lots of character.

Pours dark copper with a large, fading head.Nose shows some caramel, banana, nutty notes, herbal hops and a little blackcurrant.Nutty flavours too along with some biscuity malt. Little else.Needs more carbonation.

Bottle. Clear dark amber with a modest beige head. Aroma of dark toffee, some spices. Moderate carbonation, rather watery. Taste has toffee and chocolate, hints of roasted flavours, dry finish with some spices. Little bitterness. Nice finish. A little insubstantial, but OK.
