In addition to the rich toasted and chocolate notes in this Imperial Porter, our barrel-aged version has vanilla oak notes and subtle whiskey warmth.

Draft at Olympic. I"m really diggin this beer. Coffee, oaky bourbon...it almost reminds me of a stout. Quite dry on the finish. Really really good.

Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a snifter. Pours opaque black with small brown highlights small light brown head that dissapates quickly. Very little lacing, medium body, low carbonation, and sweet whiskey & anise aroma. Taste is whiskey, roasted malt, some dry oak, some vanilla, some alcohol heat, hint of coconut, and some light herbal hops. Pretty boozy near room temperature, body a little thin for the style, and a little more carbonation might help. Barrel aging didn’t improve it for me.

Appearance: Sinfull black color with a lovely beige head. Ok lacing.
Aroma: Rich nice aroma with chocolate, vanilla and light whiskey.
Palate: Full body with a balanced sweetness and mild bitterness. Smooth carbonation, and well hidden warming alcohol.
Flavor: What a lovely complex and well blended flavor. Rich chocolate, coffee, vanilla and mild whiskey in the background. Some roasted malt as well.
Overall impression: If I get one more like this from Yngwie. Im gonna carry a lot more beer to Kristiansand. A really midnight mover. Lovely complex and well blended imperial porter.
Location: Bottle from a trade with Yngwie.

Bottle courtesy of Deanso. Poured a lovely dark mahogany with a thick tan head. The aroma is oaky alcoholic rich and fruity. The flavour is woody, bourbon, bitter and liquorice on the palate. One of the best from Flying Dog.

12 ounce bottle. Vintage 12AA. Pours an opague dark brown, black color topped by a thick rocky brown head. Intense roasted malt aroma with notes of oak and toasted sour dough bread. Lot’s of flavor including chocolate-covered cherries served on sour dough bread. Lot’s of oakiness, bittersweet chocolate and smoked malt. Completely coats the mouth and overpowers the senses with notes of espresso, raisinettes on steroids and soy sauce marinated pickles. Excellent!

Bottle. Dark, almost black, with a small head. Aroma is liquorice and an acidic oakiness, with some fruit, light burned malt, coffee and some notes of alcohol. Body is creamy with soft carbonation. Flavour is sweet with dark fruits and prunes, kandi sugar, caramel and coffee, leaving an acidic burned finish.
