In addition to the rich toasted and chocolate notes in this Imperial Porter, our barrel-aged version has vanilla oak notes and subtle whiskey warmth.

On cask at Hay Merchant. Pours a jet black with a frothy tan head that leaves sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is oak bourbon and smoke. Thick mouthfeel with a smoke and bourbon flavor with chocolate and light dry finish. A very good bba Imperial porter from Flying Dog.

Bottle bb. 22.4.12. Black, no head. Dark chocolate, tobacco, vanilla, typical bourbon notes. Treacle and chocolate in abundance, the BA notes stay a bit more in the background, tobacco and dark chocolate on the tongue, alcohol burm, smoke and roast restronasal. Oily thick mouthfeel with a few sparkles. I am starting to dislike the BA flavor profile, but the rich chocolate notes makes this a quite nice desert beer.

On tap at the Corner Cafe. Pours dark brown with a thin, tan head. The aroma is chocolate, caramel, vanilla, and faint oak. The flavor is very sweet and malty. The palate is medium, lively, and sticky. Overall, this is a mild and sweet porter, with a subtle aroma.

Bottle at Delirium Hoppy loft shared with Leighton and James. It pours jet black, with a thin white head. The nose is coconut, vanilla, toffee, roasted malt, milk chocolate and wood. The taste is roasted malt, caramel, treacle, chocolate, coconut, tobacco, smoke and alcohol warmth in the finish. Full body and moderate carbonation. Decent stuff - good balance and high drinkability.

Bottle shared with Paul and James at Delirium Hoppy Loft, Brussels. Rich brown pour with a foamy, tan head. Bit of dark malts in the nose, some mild roast, some toasty caramel. Medium to big sweet flavor, some light peat, roasted malts, dark sugars, meat. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Mild warmth in the finish, some light roast, wood, dark sugar, some dark berries or something. Big of toasted brown sugar. Pretty smooth. Nice beer overall.

A deep dark porter with a very thin brown head. In aroma, a nice pungent coffee and chocolate, with soy sauce notes, very nice. In mouth, a nice smooth chocolate with coffee grinds, light vanilla, herbal notes, smooth and delicious. Tasted with Pushkinnow, Spinrsx, Brews Phillips, CFrancis and Ian, Jan. 14 2011, Bartowel Ottawa gathering. Thanks Steve!

Bottle from a trade with jmikolich. Pours dark brown with light brown head. Aromas of whisky, roasted malts, and chocolate. Strong but not too overpowering whisky flavor with milk chocolate and moderately roasted malts. Medium to full body with a creamy mouthfeel. Thanks Jim.

A reddish black beer with a weak and brown head. Aroma is roasted, liquirice, quite much of sweetness, hint of whisky barrel and strawberries; strong and enjoyable aroma. Full bodied, smooth, slippery and enjoyable to drink. Taste is strongly roasted, coffee, overally main point is salty liquirice, hint of whiskey and vanilla. Slightly different than normal Gonzo, but still so great beer. Less hops, but instead there are nice whiskey nuancees, strongness and this is the beer for tough guy.

35,5 cl bottle @ home, BBE 22.04.2012
Aroma is strong on bourbon with vanilla and some alcohol. Flavour has stinging bourbon, some vanilla, woody notes and hints of cocoa. Not much of the original Gonzo left as bourbon is strong here. Good, but I expected more.
