Traditionally, Imperial Stouts, the biggest and boldest of all stouts, were brewed with massive amounts of roasted malts and hops, resulting in a velvety smooth but robust beer characterized by high alcohol content and extremely high hop bitterness. Meeting the challenge of this aggressive, challenging beer style, Great Divide's Yeti Imperial Stout is an onslaught of the senses. An almost viscous, inky-black brew, Yeti opens with a massive, roasty, chocolate, coffee malt flavor that eventually gives way to rich toffee and burnt caramel notes. Packed with an enormous quantity of American hops, Yeti's hop profile reveals a slightly citrusy, piney, and wonderfully dry hoppy finish.

Can from 7,000 Jars of Beer, Kingston. Rich dark chocolate and liquorice aroma. Dark and glossy. Frothy dark beige head. Heavy bitter. Coffee, dark chcolate and liquorice. Thick bodied. Creamy. Average carbonation. Long astringent finish. A burn from the booze. Found it a bit OTT.

355ml can. Pours black with a thick tan head with great retention. Aroma of roast malts, chocolate, coffee, caramel, some piney citrusy hops. Taste is full on roasted malt bitterness, coffee, sweet chocolate and caramel, pine, citrus, bitter finish. Full bodied, thick viscous mouthfeel, smooth, soft carbonation. What a wonderful stout this is, one of the best non-adjunct stouts I've ever had.

12 ounce can. Ink black color. Rocky brown head with clinging lace. Roasted malt nose hints at espresso and cocoa. Intense bittersweet roasted malt flavor dominates the palate. Intensely flavored with notes of burnt sugar, coffee and black pepper. Bitter resiny hops and warming alcohol finish this monster off.

Bottle. Thin brown head, very fine foam. Complex spicy/yeast aroma, alcohol apparent. Taste: dry and roasty, surprising for an imperial Stout not to be sweeter, but the hop bitterness balances the residual sugars. Syrupy mouthfeel turns to roasted grains that linger along with the heavy bittering hop bill. One of the all time great powerful stouts.

Bottle at home. Three year old. Has a dark brown to black colour with a light brown head. Aroma of oak, ammonia, roasted malt and coffee. Roasted flavour of ash, dark chocolate, ammonia, oak, grass and coffee beans. Has a slick and soft mouth feel, full-bodied and a medium bitterness. Well-roasted and solid. The hops are still present after three years.
