Pours very dark brown with ruby hints.Rich malty aroma, with toasty notes, melanoidin malt, bready malt and caramel. A little restrained though.Similarly rich flavours, with more bready and toasty malt alongside some caramel. Also present is a spicy hop note.Carbonation seems a little high.

(bottle) Pours clear dark mahogany with no head. Impressive complex aroma with raisins, molasses, spice, rum and some floral notes. Excellent palate: medium bodied with fine creamy carbonation. Flavour has a sweetish start with raisins and molasses transforming in burnt toffee / dark roast malt bitterness. Overall this is an unusual and rich beer but the finish was a bit to harsh for me.

Bottle, 14C. Clear dark copper with a modest beige head that lasts all the way. Gentle aroma of toffee, plums, apples, pears, spices, a little chocolate. Rich toffee and fruit, but only a little sweet. Firm spicy bitterness. Tried this at GABS and it didn’t make much of an impression, but enjoyed this a lot.
