330ml bottle. Clear bronze with an off-white head that’s modest but lasts well. Aroma of sherry, bread, dried fruit, nuts, grass. Quite syrupy, with low carbonation. Rich but not all that sweet, with toasted bread, raisins, caramel, enough bitterness to stop it from being cloying. Alcohol is well-integrated. There’s no great depth here, but it’s pleasant and well-balanced.

50 cL bottle, courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is toasted malt, slight breadish and dry caramelish. Caramelish, toasted, bitter and subdued fruity. Bitter and caramelish finish. Slight alcohol note.

Pours copper with a large, quickly fading head.Aroma isn’t exactly bold but shows some sweet bready and caramel malt. Not really clean either. Seems to have some grainy character. Later on some nutty and chocolate hints show through.Flavours are more intense but also less precise. Caramel and nutty notes transfer through well but the rough grainy note is almost harsh and the alcohol is solvent-like.Too much carbonation, but the body is nicely slick.

(Bottle 33 cl) Pours a hazy, amber golden with a lacing, off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt, sherry and even some peaty smoke. Fairly solid body with plenty of roasted, sweetish malt, some caramel and a warming, alcoholic finish. I have reason to believe that this is slightly past its BBD, but it has aged with grace. Lovely. 120208

Bottled. Ruby colour, near no head. There’s some grassy hops, but the big raisiny malt character dominates. It’s lightly buttery with low hop rate and low bitterness. The raisiny malt flavour is everything to this beer, making it somewhat one dimensional.
