Bottle from Mane Liquor, Perth. Amber with a slight, off-white head. Decent citrus notes, with some caramel, solid cereal malts and dryish finish. Good.

(Bottle) Hazy brownish amber with no head. Subtle aroma: slightly formal with hintof caramel. Light to medium body with pleasant bright carbonation. Great, if rather straightforward, taste - base of darkish toffee overlaid with some rather nice HoS giving both balance early on in the taste and a nice long bitter finish. A very good beer.

I was looking for a late night palate cleanser in some trendy Fitzroy North bar full of young people when I came across this curious offering - hoppy amber. I’m not a huge amber fan, so it was a slight risk but the reward turned out to be worth it. There’s loads of hops packed into this little bottle, with tons of citrus and floral notes, plus some really solid malt underneath. The profile is the same in the mouth - a really pleasant IPA-amber hybrid with lots of body provided by the malt.

Pours ruby/copper with a large, fading head.Nose shows resinous, piny hops along with soft mandarin and lychee. Underneath is generous sweet crystal and bready malt.Flavours are equally hoppy, with lots of pine and hop resin providing the main show. Some rich clean malt underneath with very faint nutty notes. Seems a little grainy.Carbonation is unnecessarily full-on.Could use a more interesting malt profile to jazz things up a bit.

From a 330ml bottle on 13/12/2011. Pours a slightly cloudy amber with a big head. Has a pleasant aroma of fruit and toffee. Flavour wise, there’s a powerful sweet caramel and toffee presence, along with some citrus fruit. Finishes off with a long hop bitterness. Very flavoursome and one of the most impressive amber ales I’ve had.

Bottle. Hazy amber with a pale beige head that fades to a coat. Aroma of nectarines, passionfruit, kumquats, caramel. Sweet toffee with stone fruit and citrus. Oily mouthfeel. The toffee obscures the nice hops a little at the end.
