Keg at Mrs Parmas, Melbourne, Victoria. Hazy mahogany colour, mid sized head. Chocolaty nose. Mid dry with light body and clean mouthfeel. Chocolate and crystal malt, notes of wood and caramel. Light grassy bitterness. Interesting.

This beer spreads out over my tongue like a big malted chocolate pillow, with loads of nutty goodness and a slightly metallic finish. The head is gorgeous, the length good and it smells good too.

(Tap) Clear dark brown with ruby hints and thin tan head. Subtle malt aroma. Light body, good carbonation. Some interesting coffee smoky notes in flavour. Overall a nice brown ale.

Pours black with ruby highlights and a large, lasting head.Nose shows chocolate, roasted malt, nutty notes and, later on, some coffee. Pretty decent.Similar flavours really; cocoa, coffee, roasted malt. Could use more sweetness/less roasty coffee.Carbonation is pretty much spot-on, however it could use a lighter body.

Bottle, 9C. Lovely clear mahogany with a light beige head that laces well. Aroma of toffee, nuts, raisins, a little chocolate, grass. Velvety mouthfeel. Taste is rich and sweet at first with toffee and butterscotch, raisins, dates. Bitterness creeps up and balances nicely - some roasted, some pine and grass. The somewhat buttery English style malts married with American hops might bother some, but worked fine for me. Pine really creeps up at the end. Tasty.
