Nach spezieller Rezeptur eisgereift, mit weichem, elegantem Körper, dabei doch kräftig-intensiv verführt diese Schneider Spezialität schon beim allerersten Schluck: Geheimnisvoll offenbaren sich würzige Pflaumen-, Bananen- und Nelkenaromen mit einem Hauch von Bittermandel und Marzipan – einfach magisch. Und besonders verführerisch auch als Digestif. Oder zu Crepes, dunklen Schokoladen, Tiramisu und vollreifem Parmesan.
Aventinus, the Wheat Doppelbock of Bavaria, has always been known to be the most intense and complex wheat beer in the world. This was the case for the past sixty years, but not anymore... Up until the 1940’s, Aventinus was shipped all over Bavaria in containers lacking temperature control. Consequently, the precious drink partially froze during transportation. Unaware that the brew was concentrated by the separation of water from the liquid. People were baffled by this unique version of Aventinus. By chance, the first Aventinus Eisbock was created. Well aware of this story, Hans Peter Drexler, brewmaster of the Schneider brewery, decided to recreate this classic "mistake" in a modern controlled facility. Thus, the Aventinus Eisbock is reborn sixty years later ... Prost!

0.33 l bottle at Valhalla shared with Leo the Waiter. Had it once before in Schneider's pub in Munich in 2010. Didn't make any notes. Dark brown, small lasting beige head. Aroma is fruit, molasses, fruit liqueur such as blueberry. Dried fruit, dark cherry, prunes. Some bubblegum, fruit cake. Flavour is rich, fruity, roasty. Warming, alcoholic feeling. Sweet. Chewy. Medium body. Very elegant.

Ouf, l'alcool nous fesse solidement! C'est du costaud, du solide que cette version 2018. C'est presque sans effervescence. Je la trouve bien faite c'est clair, mais je préfère la version originale...

Thuis uit een flesje. Donkerbruin, eerst veel beige schuim, zakt wel in. Caramel in het aroma. Volle dikke smaak, caramel, stevige suiker, wat chocolade. Nasmaak lang, vol. En ja, je proeft de alcohol wel.

Opaque beer, think head. Smells of banana and malt. Flavour is ludicrously smooth for 12 percent. Just like a light, zesty, banana bread-y wheat beer but with a bit more of a rich, malty base. Very very drinkable, with a nice fruity finish, possibly a hi t of spice in there too? Not sure. It's lovely anyway.

Flasche bei Bierlinie gekauft. Sehr dunkler Körper mit etwas Schaum. Aroma: Gerösteter Malz, Portwein, Pflaumen, Karamell. Geschmack: Süß, aber dabei Fruchtig. Rosine, getrocknete Früchte, Pflaume. Volles Mundgefühl. Fantastisch.

# 529; 11/2016; # 1163; 7/2018. Vynikající mnovrstevnatej eisbock. Velmi silné ve stupních alkoholu i ve výraznosti chiti. Alkoholově hřejivé, povidla, portské víno, ovoce (višně, fíky), kořenitost (hřebíček, perník). Prostě paráda.

Bottle from Kaufhof, Cologne, Germany. A dark brown coloured pour with a medium beige head on top. Sweet, boozy, caramel, dark fruit on the nose. Tastes, boozy, sweet, caramel, dark fruit, banana. Very nice, almost Belgian in taste.

Eisweizenbock mit absolut brutalen 12 % Alkohol und 25,5 % Stammwürze. Ein Weizendoppelbock ist schon ein Bierexot - ein Eisbock toppt das noch. Hierzu wird der Aventinus Doppelbock angefroren und da der Wasseranteil zuerst gefriert kann man diesen leicht entfernen und übrig bleibt die Bieressenz (mit dem ganzen Alkohol). Um eins mal vorweg zu schicken: Mit Bier hat das nicht mehr viel zu tun. Geht schon stark in Richtung Likör. Und trotzdem (ich kann es kaum glauben) - das Zeug ist lecker, ausgewogen und gut trinkbar. Viel Süße und Malz, aber auch herbe, würzige Noten und ganz viel Alkohol. Interessant, muss man mal getrunken haben. Sollte aber unbedingt wie Likör oder Likörwein behandelt werden.
