Nach spezieller Rezeptur eisgereift, mit weichem, elegantem Körper, dabei doch kräftig-intensiv verführt diese Schneider Spezialität schon beim allerersten Schluck: Geheimnisvoll offenbaren sich würzige Pflaumen-, Bananen- und Nelkenaromen mit einem Hauch von Bittermandel und Marzipan – einfach magisch. Und besonders verführerisch auch als Digestif. Oder zu Crepes, dunklen Schokoladen, Tiramisu und vollreifem Parmesan.
Aventinus, the Wheat Doppelbock of Bavaria, has always been known to be the most intense and complex wheat beer in the world. This was the case for the past sixty years, but not anymore... Up until the 1940’s, Aventinus was shipped all over Bavaria in containers lacking temperature control. Consequently, the precious drink partially froze during transportation. Unaware that the brew was concentrated by the separation of water from the liquid. People were baffled by this unique version of Aventinus. By chance, the first Aventinus Eisbock was created. Well aware of this story, Hans Peter Drexler, brewmaster of the Schneider brewery, decided to recreate this classic "mistake" in a modern controlled facility. Thus, the Aventinus Eisbock is reborn sixty years later ... Prost!

The Bock of Bocks! 12% but super smooth and pretty sweet. Those old Germans were pretty smart...and pretty drunk, I do declare.

Rocky beige head left a skim on a dark copper brown body. Full on aroma of dark sugar, syrup & dark spirits. Full bodied, tingly on the palalte & clean on the finish. Dark berries, sherry, port, wine, rich over ripe fruit, malt & demerara tastes.

Smell - quite weak, some fruits. Foam - large , white brown, medium thick, to thick, some carbonation, some fruit sweetness. Taste - very sweet, and sour and bitter, dont like this, some fruity tones, alcohol tones. Gets bit better later, but still wont buy again. Not my type. Appearance - hazy dark brown.

Pours light brown with reddish hints. Slightest off-white head recedes quite quickly to a thin layer but still holds well enough. A quite strong aroma shows caramel and maybe slight dark bread, a not too aggressive warming/alcohol feel and strong fruity notes (dark/dried fruit, plums most notable, some ripe banana). Taste is soft and sweet in the mouth with a nice sweetish but balanced enough finish. Caramel, dough, warming but not overpowering alcohol, fruity notes as per aroma. Finish has a hint of roasted malts to bring balance. Medium to dense bodied with low to medium carbonation, nicely soft and creamy on the mouth. Very much a "concentrated" dunkelweizen, and a very good one at that, with great drinkability for the abv.

$5.25 bottle, Wine Warehouse. Category of I know I've had this before but didn't rate. So here's a fresh bottle and rating. Pours murky brown with a small beige head. Aroma is malty, booze, light chocolate, dark cherries. Flavor is bittersweet black cherry, chocolate malt, green grass, pear, alcohol.

Bottle. Color: Hazy dark reddish brown, beige head. Aroma: Wheat, yeast, red fruit. Taste: Wheat, yeast, notes of dried red fruit and cloves, hints of chocolate, nuts, banana, wood and light boozy and smoky hints. Above medium body, soft carbonation. Complex and well balanced. Very nice.

Leicht trübe, dunkelbraune, etwas rötliche Farbe mit beiger Schaumkrone. Prägnanter malziger, alkoholischer Geruch mit dunkeln Früchten. Geschmacklich sehr vielschichtig, malzig, alkoholisch, fruchtig mit Pflaumen, Bananen und Karamell, schwach hopfig bitter. Hohe Süße mit schwacher Bitterkeit, voller Körper mit sanfter Kohlensäure, spürbarer, jedoch sehr gut eingebauter Alkohol. Exzellent.
