A beer that has a dominant malty taste. This beer’s origins in a monk’s recipe are reflected in its heartiness. The Pope of Beers, Conrad Seidl, describes it as: “Almost black with a very slight red tone, a sensational, festive foam and truly extraordinary fragrance that at first summons up visions of greaves lard. The first taste is of mild fullness with an accompanying coffee tone, which becomes more dominant with the aftertaste. There is very little of the sweetness that is frequently to be tasted with doppelbock beer.” The Ayinger Celebrator has been ranked among the best beers of the world by the Chicago Testing Institute several times and has won numerous medals.

Had this one at Ayinger in Munich in 2010, never wrote anything. Rating now from 0.33 l bottle bought at Goblet Beer Store, Zagreb. Dark brown, reddish tint. Medium creamy off-white head. Aroma is malty, fruity, toasty, spicy. Dried cherry. Dark bread. Smooth, medium to full body. Sophisticated malty flavour, toasted bread, caramel, fruity touch. Finishes dry, some hop character. Warming. Gentle. A classic.

27/9/2019. Bottle courtesy of Boris, cheers for the this one! Pours dark mahogany brown with a modest beige head. Aroma of dark chocolate, rich fruit cake, toffee, molasses, roasted malt, dark and dried fruits, hint of dark cherries and brown bread. Medium plus sweetness and moderate bitterness. Full body, slick texture, very soft carbonation. Warming slightly boozy and slightly nutty finish. Rather good.

Bottle Ayinger Weihnachtsbock from Tbone, thanks Timo! Deep dark brown color. Malt and chocolate cake in the aroma. Malty sweet flavor with raisin, chocolate and even hints of porto. Caramel. A rich, well balanced and tasty beer. Ayinger Celebrator Weihnachtsbock, bought in Aachen in december 2007. Bottle. Roast, dark chocolate, cream and a hint of laurel in the rich aroma. Massive, full bodied beer. Raisin, chocolate, roast and cream in the malty flavor. The malty sweetness is well balanced by other flavors. Velvety texture, fairly long aftertaste. This is indeed a great, complex doppelbock. From tap @ Café Morshuis Albergen. Full bodied. malty, roasty plummy flavor. Dark chocolate. Full bodied. Lovely balance of malt and roast. Very tasty. A great doppelbock!
