500ml bottle, 2017 vintage. Pours dark brown with an off white head. Cinnamon, nutmeg, biscuit, chocolate, red fruit, dried fruit, bit of banana. Quite a light body doesn't suit it great. Nice.

From a 500ml bottle on 2/7/2011. Pours amber with a decent head. There’s lots on the nose, including cinnamon, apples, cherries, raisins, and cola. All of these are also present in the flavour. This is like a sweet, spicy Christmas cake in liquid form, and there’s just enough bitterness to make it work nicely. A very different, interesting and worthwhile brew.

Pours dark brown with a large, growing creamy head.Nose shows raisins, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. Pretty much hot cross buns spot on. Underneath is some rich sweet malt. Spices are a little overbearing.Similar rich sweet flavours, with more raisins and spices, but some chocolate and booze also shows through.Carbonation is somewhat high, drying out the finish.

Bottle. Pours unpolished copper with a small light tan head. Smells of sugary cinnamon toast. There’s nutmeg, kaffir lime leaves, dried limes, cardamon pods, herbal honey and star anise too. Tastes rich sweet and spicy with a drying woody spicy finish. It’s complex and obviously well-made, but I didn’t like it much at all.

(Bottle 50 cl) Vintage 2006. Hazy orangey brown with a creamy yellowish head. Very spicy cardamom-like nose. Medium-bodied, notes of Speculaas and perhaps orange. Lightly sweet before a vaguely bitter finish. 270408

Papsoes mystery blindtasting beer #6. Pours hazy brown with an orange hue and a dense, lasting and tan head. Solid spiced aroma. Flavour is smooth caramel malty with a solid yet nicely complimenting spice flavour. Ends with a light acidic spice flavour.

A nut brown beer with a small white head. The aroma is very spicy and reminds me of a mix of motor oil and flowers. It tastes better than the aroma, it is spicy with notes of chocolate and candied violets.

Bottled. Mahogany colour, creamy head. Spicy sage aroma. Sweet and malty with honey, lots of velvetty caramel and some red berries. Rich and near full bodied with soft mouthfeel and complex interplay between spices, hops and malt. Medium bitterness. A class act!
