From a 330ml bottle on 19/2/2012. Pours a dark amber/brown with little head. The aroma includes, prunes, raisins, toffee and some scotch. In the mouth, it’s quite sweet with toffee, caramel and dark fruits prominent. There’s a decent slightly sour citric bitterness at the back. The texture is quite syrupy but it goes down quite easily for 8%. Unusual and rather enjoyable.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of bluebetty. Pours a clear warm amber with an off-white head. Sweet caramel aroma combined with peat. Solid body, very fruity and caramellish with a distinct peaty touch. Hardly any bitterness. Interesting. 150311

Bottle @13C. Pours dark brown, an inch of light tan head that laces well. Quite bubbly for a while, but settles down. Smokey malt, whisky and raisin nose. Smooth, syrupy texture, then peat and plenty of it. Treacle and molasses with some singing - rather than lighter sugars made dark. Finish is quite dry but not bitter at all. Alcohol is dangerously well-hidden despite the whisky aroma. As it warms in the glass it becomes clear that, yep, 13C was still quite a lot too cold (put the temperature on the label, please). Minced pie flavours emerge and the peat sits back a bit. Very good. [3.9] Bottle, 15C. Unpolished clear bronze with a coat of beige head that completely disappears after a while. Aroma of peat, dark toffee, vanilla, whisky, oloroso sherry. Sweet with peat and smoke. Raisins and burnt sugars and hints of herbs. Graciously oxidised malt and dried fruits. Boozy, but it’s well-integrated. Drying finish with peat cleans up the sweetness well.

Pours dark copper with a large off-white head. Aroma is richly malty, with loads of smoky peat as well. Caramel, treacle and raisins are all noticeable, but the peat threatens to overwhelm everything else. Some alcohol is present.Flavours are similarly peaty and malty, with lots of caramel and soft alcohol.Body is rich with creamy carbonation, though a little high.Overall, a bit too peaty but otherwise very nice.

Dark amber color. Slightly sour, toffee, caramel, apricot nose. Very malty. A bit unbalanced. OK for style, but not really memorable.
