Odin's Tipple was meant to be a strong beer, but we changed our minds...its still strong but we wont follow the mega strong trend. It should be possible to make great beer without the extreme alcohol potency. Odin's Tipple is now approx 11% abv, it’s a dark almost black beer from lots and lots of chocolate malt. Its the malt that contributes the flavor...no added coffee or anything else, Its got a great body without being old engine oil and still very drinkable due to the wild yeast we use. This beer is made with a single strain of wild yeast and the recipe is dead simple.

Appearance: A complete absence of light on the other side of this one. A nice beige head that leaves a fine lacing.
Aroma: Coffee, roasted malt and chocolate.
Palate: Full body. Tad sweet with an ok bitterness. Soft carbonation. Creamy texture.
Taste: Lots off espresso and chocolate. Roasted malt and mild liqorice.
Overall impression: Solid stuff! Do not think I have to say more about that.
Personal stats: Bottle from a trade with OleR.

Bottle courtesy of rlgk. Pours oily pitch black with a rather small creamy dark chocolate brown head that slowly dissipates while leaving a small trace on the glass. Smell is sweet with roasted malts, high quality dark chocolate, moist soil, dark roast coffee, brown sugar, salty liquorice candy, alcohol, charred wood and hints of lemon zest. Taste is sweet, bitter and malty with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, burnt wood, alcohol, bitter chocolate, moist soil, hay, burnt caramel, salty liquorice candy and hints of cookie dough. Mouthfeel is round, oily, creamy, boozy and near full bodied. finish is bitter and malty with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, salty liquorice candy, bitter chocolate, burnt wood, cookie dough and very subtle hints of green peas. Very solid imperial stout.

500 ml bottle. Pours black with brown head similar to dark chocolate milk. Aromas of dark chocolate ice cream, light smoke, and heavily roasted malts. Rich flavors of roasted malts, dark fruit, brownies, and lingering bitter dark chocolate. 2012 vintage seems to be much better than previous year.

Bottled. Black colour with a ten head that quickly diminishes. Aroma has notes of roasted and burnt maalts, red fruits, liquor and strong coffee. Flavor is very similar as aroma with black chocolate notes, strong alcohol with notes wood, ashes and espirituosity drink, perhaps rum. Average dry and strong coffee final with a long duration.

500ml bottle. Pitch black colour with average to huge, firm, frothy, lasting, brown head. Dark malty aroma has notes of chocolate, treacle, a herbal touch, hints of soy sauce. Taste is initially moderately sweet dark malty with notes of milk chocolate and dark chocolate, accompanied by a slightly bitter and herbal note; eventually a considerable amount of warming alcohol gives way for a lasting, nuttily dark chocolate finish; oily palate.

Kveldens bonus på Cardinaltreff jan-13: svart som arvesynden. Litt røde bær i aromaen. Saftige saker - dette er høyoktan solbærsaft med fint (og diskret) balansert bitterhet, som når litt steiner følger med i kirsebærsyltetøyet. Må testes under mer edruelige omstendigheter.
