Epic' Beer and 'Sparks Brewing' have teamed up to create their version of an 'imperial stout'. This stout is an intensely flavoured dark, roast and bittersweet ale. Upon first sip the chocolate and roasted coffee leap out of the glass with rich dark fruit and ripe berry flavours following. The 9% alcohol gives the beer a warming character and rich mouth filling sensation. There is a thick creamy brown head that floats atop the beer. Sticking around and lacing the glass with each sip. This beer tastes delicious fresh but it is a beer made to age. It will cellar for more than 10 years and will improve with each year.

Pours black with a very dark tan head.Nose shows heavy roasted malt, cocoa, bready and toasty malt, nutty notes, faint treacle and a hint of caramel.Flavours include more heavy roast, a bit of liquorice, toasty malt, dark chocolate, spicy hops, and a lingering finish full of bitter chocolate.

Bottle. Black with a tan head that fades to a coat and lacing. 3+ Aroma of dark roast, mocha, blackberries, tobacco. 8 very smooth with moderate to low domination. Sweet before slightly spicy bitterness at the end. Rich mocha, slightly astringent roasted flavours. Good.

On tap at The Catfish in Melbourne. Brown sugar and treacle nose. Deep black with minimal head. Oily mouthfeel. Fantastically balanced. Punchy burnt treacle, caramel, little bit of biscuit and coffee. Warms wonderfully and just stays right side of excessive booziness.

500ml bottle. Pours black with a thick dark head. Chocolate, fudge, leather, tobacco, plum, bit of blackcurrant. Good thick body. Nice.
