Copenhagen Beer Festival. Clear brown beer. Sweet toffeish malt provides a decent base for the firey chili - hot but not unmanageable. Well joined up and I think the best chili beer I’ve had.

Clear amber without head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, yeasty and chili. Flavor is medium sweet. Dry finish where the chili burns the throat. Lacks bitterness. How on earth was this elected new beer of the year in 2009 by the Danish Beer Enthusiasts? 150210

0.5l bottle. Pours a nougat semi clear body with a small bubbly off-white and fading little head. In the aroma I find notes of peach, apricot, caramel, sweet malts and something that reminds me of chocolate. Body is medium, texture is oily and it has an average carbonation. Quite malty and dusty flavors and you can definitely taste the alcohol. The chili only first starts to kick in the finish and is leaving a longlasting mild burning sensation in the aftertaste. I personally don't believe chili belongs in a beer. For that the chili dominates to much after the fist sip and completely nuns your taste buds way to much. Perhaps it could work as a "last beer of the day", but I think it's completely idiotic to start off a nice beer-evening with something that makes the rest of the night in to a tasteless sensation because your tongue doesn't have the CPU-power to process the strong flavors of the first beer you'd had. At first I feared that I would be unable to finish the bottle, but the darn thing grows on you. Still, I'm not completely persuaded like some of the people I've spoken to that have had this before me, but all in all this is a original and interesting brew that works best alone or as a "last beer of the day".

500 ml bottle from Wine & Cheese in Clayton, MO. Pours light amber with a fizzy/creamy off-white head that goes down rapidly. Aroma suggests chocolate and chili. ??? Med body. Instant impression is chocolate and chili. ??? It doesn’t seem to be very hot chili initially, but the heat does sort of build up. A subtle chili aspect. Chocolate? Could the Girl Scout shortbread cookie be a strange outlying influence? Anyway the chili heat does build more intensive with the passage of time. Must not be a lot of capsaicin tho, or my scalp would be more moist. Quite incomprehensible.

On tap at Borefts festival 2010. Chili flavour is noticeable but not overpowering. Drinkable but not special.

At Borefts BF 2010. Ken kept badgering me to try the Midtfyns beers, so I let him take me to the stand and we went through them and I was quietly impressed. Decent pale ale with some warming chili. Touch of burn. Would go good with seafood. Touch of pale ale, some toffee and good bite on end.

Flaske 0,5l fra bestillingsutvalget til Vinmonopolet. Gyldenbrunt. Litt uklart. Høyt skum som detter fort. Litt pepper i aromaen som også har innslag av frukt. Smaken er vinøs med innslag av plommer. Brukbar fylde. Ganske fort overtar chilien smaken og dominerer totalt. Tørr krydret ettersmak. KI=4

Bottled:
Pours a hazy, pale brown colour. Light grainy aroma. Dry and grainy flavour. The chili shows up late but stays for quite a while.
