Bust out your Ouija Board, dust off your Geiger Counter, and muster a Clairvoyant – it’s Barrelnormal Activity Hunting Time! Teaming up with Cryer Malt and Yakima Chief Hops we have used an exciting experimental hop, HBC 472. It imparts delicious bourbon and oak barrel characters (without it ever touching the sides of a barrel).

440ml can. Poured a clear medium brown colour with a lasting frothy light tan head. The aroma is light roasty malt, a little smoke, fresh hops. The flavour is moderate sweet and liqourice bitter, with a light, roasty, light dry ashtray, light pepper, light liqourice, hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. A hopped up porter. A little light all round but quite drinkable.

Deep brown. Thin. Does have an oaked nose. The experiment here is intriguing. A hop that evokes barrel is a cool breakthrough. Without knowing that, this is just a standard thin, slightly herbaceous porter with oaked notes.

Can. Dark brown with an inch of pale beige head. Aroma of green wood, chocolate biscuit dough, scorched wet cardboard. Thin. Weedy. Some herbal woody notes. Really bad.
