Maybe you’ve seen him. Maybe you’ve only heard about him. He’s tricky like that, dear old Crunkle Sam. But a good time seems to follow him wherever it goes, also a bad ass bald eagle.
Crunkle Sam is our American Barleywine that we revisit every so often. This year we chose to bring it back, bourbon barrel-aged and in a big, beautiful 19.2oz can. The legend continues…

Bottled. An amber beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of over ripe fruits, alcohol, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of alcohol, over ripe fruits, spices, and caramel, leading to a dry and bitter finish.

22 oz. bottle, pours a relatively dark orange amber with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out resinous hops, caramel, and some slight fruity notes - moderate complexity. Flavour is well-balanced, with notes of candied sugar, fusels, caramel and resinous hops. Pretty hot, with all the ABV showing. Well-balanced nevertheless. Good barleywine.

Bomber from CraftShack. Pours hazy copper with a yellow beige head. Aroma is brown sugar with hints of citrus. Full bodied, at least. Flavor is bitter brown sugar - which moves to non-bitter brown sugar, alcohol burn in the gullet, and some discernible citrus flavor. It’s trying to be astringent. Whatever, it is really good to drink!
