This complex Double India Pale Ale has an intense citrus and floral hop aroma balanced by a velvety malt body which has been augmented with lactose milk sugar. With this different take on an IPA, we have brewed an ale that is both please to drink, and once again, "Not Normal."

10oz pour at the brewpub is very hazy and a burnt yellow with very little, lacing white head. Smells vaguely European, candy sugar, tropical fruit, a little musty, a little banana, a little spice. Flavor is off, some citrus, a little medicinal, malty, candy sweetness. Not a whole ton of citrus. Full bodied, cloying finish. Not their best effort.

Bottle. Sweet honey tangerine malt and light grapefruit/pine aroma. Cloudy golden yellow color with minimal head. Sweet tangerine/apricot malt and light citrus/hay hops flavor. Low carbonation. Pretty good - hops pretty subdued - not sure how old this was.

22oz bottle. Poured hazy golden with a small off-white head. Aroma was floral/citrus hops, fruit, and light caramel malt. Very prominent apricot flavor, sweet caramel, grapefruit, and a dry bitter finish. Medium bodied with some light carbonation. Very nice. My 15 year old saw the bottle and commented on the awesome name and laughed at the artwork.

Sample from a bottle at the Day Before Labor Day party. The beer pours a cloudy golden color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Thin rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops, pine and malt. Medium body with flavors of piney hops, vanilla, malt and flowers. The finish is hoppy with a malty undercurrent that leaves a lingering sweetness. Solid IIPA overall.

Bottled. A hazy dark golden beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has strong notes of hops lending it primarily notes of lemon. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of lemons, but also light notes of alcohol, leading to a dry and very bitter finish.
