Prairie Noir is our whiskey barrel aged imperial oatmeal stout. We brew this beer with a huge amount of oats to give it an ever so silky mouth feel. Notes of coffee, chocolate, and toasted marshmallow can be found in the flavor and aroma of this beer. Notes of whiskey and carmel are also packed into this beer.

2016 small bottle. Pours a motor oil black with no head and little perceived carbonation. As I swirl it though, dark brown bubbles cling to the glass. Fudge brownies, bourbon, oak, marshmallows and prune all over the nose. Thick and chewy with lots of deep cacao, fudge, oak and whisky notes. The barrels work well and adds to the complexity of the beer. Lingering charred cacao nib, brownie finish with s’mores and vanilla bean. Solid work Prairie!

Mad love going out to Willrunforbeer, on this share, mad pimping! Pitch black color with sticky legs of lace on the glass. Aroma is deep dark roasted grains, coffee beans, cocoa nibs and a mild note worthy bourbon.
The mouthfeel is correct for the style, nice full and creamy texture. I feel like everybody should use oats when they brew imperial stouts. Really helps give that dense feeling. Deep layers of roast with a mild easy whiskey finish. Gosh, damn.. Real nice stuff! Love this.

Bottle @ Drink Rich’s American beer, thanks to Omgrich.

Bottle, 12oz. A jetblack beer with a dense, finger-thick light tan head. The aroma has a touch of bourbon and boozyness, with lots of roasted malts and a good dash of coffee and chocolate. It’s full-bodied and silky on the palate, with a lovely carbonation level. Some sourish, almost acidic notes in the flavor, which is mostly coffee, roasted malts and dark chocolate. Bourbon too, no vanilla. Lasting finish. A quite wonderful one, but a bit too boozy. 141025
