Prairie Noir is our whiskey barrel aged imperial oatmeal stout. We brew this beer with a huge amount of oats to give it an ever so silky mouth feel. Notes of coffee, chocolate, and toasted marshmallow can be found in the flavor and aroma of this beer. Notes of whiskey and carmel are also packed into this beer.

Bottle - Big Whisky and barrel notes with chocolate roast malts. Jet black with a decent brown head. Whisky notes and oatmeal. Silky smooth and not as complex as the nose.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color ale with a nice large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of deep black chocolate notes with some light bourbon notes is quite interesting. Taste is a mix between some vanilla and bourbon notes mix in with some sweet black chocolate notes. Body is full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Well brewed stout but I was expecting flavours to shine through even more so.

Bottle (red wax) from deyholla – thanks! Very dark brown pour with a smallish brown head. Light lacing. Nose is well balanced in roast, cocoa, bourbon, and charred barrel. Good ratio of sweet to roast, same in the taste. Coffee begins to come through, along with a heavier roast. Barrel notes are less prominent, but in a good way. Finishes with a lingering bittersweet cocoa and light bourbon note. Great texture. I had the Pirate Noir last summer and have been looking forward to try this as original, aka base beer. Very good stuff.

Bottle received as extra in trade. Thank you stawn! Pours reddish black with a small mocha head that doesn’t leave much trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is slightly sweet and malty with roasted malts, toffee, burnt caramel, brown sugar sweetened dark roast coffee, charred wood, black pepper corns, shredded coconut, burnt oatmeal flakes, liquorice fudge, bourbon and moist tobacco. Taste is sweet, bitter and malty with roasted malts, burnt wood, coconut shells, bitter chocolate, vanilla fudge, toffee, leather, dark roast coffee, vanilla fudge, bourbon, peat, alcohol, moist tobacco and cocoa powder. Mouthfeel is heavy roasted astringent, tiny oily, tiny sticky, slightly boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is slightly sweet, bitter and malty with roasted malts, burnt oatmeal flakes, dark chocolate, vanilla fudge, shredded coconut, charred wood, bourbon, peat, alcohol and burnt hay. Harshly bitter... Pretty unbalanced...

Bottle split at the Jack is back tasting, thanks to Jacky boy @isback, 06/03/14. Black with a moderate tan covering that clears to a swirl and edgework. Nose is dark malts, spice, dark berry fruit, metallic waft, mollasses. Taste comprises chocolate, dungy notes, hot boozedom, woody tang. Full bodied, fine carbonation, hot in the drying close. So so for style - a little infected perhaps?

Um, 750ML poured um cloudy orange, 1 finger head. this is a stout? nice yeasty brett nose with citra and lemon meringue. Quite fruity with mango, lots of brett....yeasty, mango, banana. really fruit, juicy tangerine bitterness. This is quite good but not an imperial stout.
