Prairie Noir is our whiskey barrel aged imperial oatmeal stout. We brew this beer with a huge amount of oats to give it an ever so silky mouth feel. Notes of coffee, chocolate, and toasted marshmallow can be found in the flavor and aroma of this beer. Notes of whiskey and carmel are also packed into this beer.

Sample at Kurtkeller 007: Founders-tastic 01 on 03/06/2014. Brownish-black pour with a medium light brown head that diminishes gradually. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Roasted malt, coffee and oak in the nose. Medium to full body with flavors of roast coffee, oaky vanilla and chocolate. The finish is roasted malt and subtle bourbon, Good beer all around.

Jack is back tasting at Bruce’s. Jack is back and brought this with him. Thanks Jack. Opaque dark brown beer, decent tan head. Palate is softish and airy, slightly dry with fine carbonation. Smooth airy dark malt. Brett and dark fruits. Little malt roast in the finish. Not bad.

Bottle shared in London - thanks, Jack. Pours clearish brown with a frothy tan head. The aroma has some tangy dark berries, a bit of cocoa. Medium sweet flavor with chalky cocoa, earthy bitterness, some tobacco, faint tangy dark fruits, slight basement. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Moderate sweetness to finish, more dry cocoa, burnt earth bitterness. Eh. So so.

Bottle thanks Jack. It pours jet black with a medium tan head. The nose is earthy, manure, funky, cocoa, rocky road, light vanilla, marshmallow and toast. The taste is roasty, toasty, earth, treacle, tang, oak, burnt notes, plastic, light spice, some acidity and light alcohol with a dry finish. Full ism body and fine carbonation. A bit acidic, ashy and rough. OK at best.

Petrol Station, Houston tap: Pours black with a brownish head. Aroma is light whiskey barrel and oak coupled with chocolate and coffee, roasted malts and sugar. Taste is at first more whiskey, but as you keep drinking the sweet chocolate flavors start to come out in fuller force. Well-balanced and easy drinking. Tasty.
