This is the OG (original gangstah) of our Black Damnation series and the one that started it all. This beer is a blend of Struise Black Albert and De Molen Hel & Verdoemenis imperial stouts. Both beers on the very edge of darkness, of which the brewers' minds both sit on the verge of insanity.
Black Damnation is black as hell, filthy rich in the nose and boasts massive taste. This brew is the perfect marriage of the sweet, unxious flavors from Black Albert and the bitter charcoal and coffee profile from the Hel & Verdoemenis. Good luck finding some, the last batch was made in 2010!
50% of Black Albert was used with another 50% of H&V. Black coloured beer with just a sliver of a dark tan head. Aroma is glorious & full of coffee, brown sugar, dark fruity chocolate. Flavours of H&V are quite evident, charcoal and mineral notes, chocolate, cocoa powder. Good coffee chocolate finish with good balancing bitterness and hops & sugar in the after taste. 2009 vintage 12% abv 2010 vintage 13% abv.

Bottle. Rating #4400. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty coffee, chocolate and licorice aroma with some hints of brown sugar. Roasted malty chocolate and licorice flavor with hints of coffee and some hints of alcohol. Has a roasted malty chocolate and licorice finsish with some bitterness in the aftertaste.

330 ml bottle. Totally black body with a big, foamy beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and leather. Flavor is roasted and very sweet malt, dark chocolate, coffee, bitter hops and alcohol. A big and robust beer with a potent flavor and still quite balanced. To be sipped in smaller quanta.

Ra-rate 1/16: Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Vova. Black. Kinda infected aroma. Sourish, a bit of vinegar, fruits, chocolate, bitter roast. Still very nice, but completely different than the original beer. Score not calculated. 7/4/7/4/14=3.6
[9/9/09] Bottle at a friends’ house in Amsterdam. Black with a big brown head. Burnt aroma of bitter chocolate, espresso and a bit of alcohol. Sweet, viscous, chocolatey flavor with some coffee liqueur, earthy notes, some wood, some plums and prunes and alcohol. A drier alcoholic finish. Full-bodied. A great big Stout. 8/4/8/4/16=4

Pitch black with creamy medium beige head.Aroma of earth chocolate and licorice.Flavor is strong warming and rosted note of tar and vanilla really nice type of beer.

(Bottle at Pikkulintu, Helsinki, on 2009-07-31) Black. Quite large and tan coloured head. Liquorice and ash in aroma. Full bodied and dry palate with quite a lot of carbonation. Roastedness, chocolate, liquorice, ash, coffee and bitterness in taste. Roasty aftertaste. Good one but I’d rather have Hel & Verdoemenis and Black Albert as they are and not mixed together.

Bottle. Ap: Black with a big, creamy and short lasting brown head. Ar: Creamy chocolate. Roastiness. Licorice. Fla: Chocolate liquor, some port wine maybe, tiny sourness, vinous, dried fruits, vanilla. Moderate bitterness. Slight smokeiness in the aftertaste. Quite warming. Ov: Extremely thick and smooth. Creamy really! Well made in all aspects (especially the feel of it/the body).

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a huge brown head over a black body. Aroma of oak, peanut shells, chocolate, metallic, brown sugar and coffee. Taste is coffee, nutshells and Belgian yeast. Syrupy mouthfeel.

Thanks Patrik! Pretty close to black. The aroma is a mild but complex espresso showing cookie dough and vague nuttiness. Somewhat fizzy, which cuts through the rich chocolate. There’s nutty accents first then some espresso. The finish is a bit fizzy. Hints of alcoholic warmth coat the tongue as well. Another one that is interesting but not entirely cohesive.

Bottle from Alvinne. Pours really black with a huge frothy dark tan head. Aroma of strong coffee, dark toast malt and perhaps chocolate. Full bodied with foamy carbonation. Flavor is strong coffee and both milk and dark chocolate. Much more intense than Black Albert. Finishes extremely IS with not quite dry actuality. 666 - believe it.
