A small bottle from the off-licence opposite Jing Mei fire station. Aroma: powerful, fruity, Christmas pudding. Appearance: opaque oxtail soup, big floaters rising to the surface - presumably nutritious but a bit off-putting, head is 2-3mm. cafe au lait. Palate: full-bodied, nice satisfying mouth feel, average carbonation; finish is very long and lingering. Taste: medium-sweet, malty, plenty almond, port. Alcohol very apparent in the mouth, enters the bloodstream, hits the spot. Keeping my fingers crossed the floaters don’t presage a headache, great stuff nonetheless.

Edit 3/2026. Aroma of honey, malty, estery, fruity, spicy, cherry. Murky amber body; lacing beige head. Honey, malty, fruity, spicy, cherry, apricot jam. Full body; soft carbonation; smooth. Excellent barley wine. Shared 0,3 l of bottle, BW tasting session.

Bottle at home, cellared for 1.5 years, I think this one’s was a gift from Kini, koszi! Pours copper with thin beige head. Nose is sweet notes of booze, nuts, bready malts, woody notes, super light smoke. Taste is also sweet, but not overwhelmingly, showing booze, light vanilla, wood, dried fruits and malts with just a tiny bit of bitternes on the palate. Medium bodied with soft carbo, nice sipper. Nicely balanced and well rounded.

03-12-30 Aromat bogaty słodowy, ciastka i biszkopt, przyprawy, lekko wędzone. Drobna piana, klarowne, herbaciany kolor. Smak słodki, z elementami goryczki alkoholu i melanoidyn. Nagazowanie niskie, gumowate, ciało spore, alkohol niewyczuwalny, finisz krótki słodki, Ogólnie fajne, dobrze się pije jest trochę zadziorne i nie takie słodkie jak w innych barley winach

30/03/2014. Deep amber/orange looks beautiful. Fruity aroma of malts, sweet oranges, sweet apples, caramel, mandarin, peach. Flavour is fruity and caramel sweetness with some alcohol. Very full sticky mouthfeel, thick body. Surprisingly easily drinkable considering the alcohol content. A majestic beer. 03/03/2015 drank 01/04/2009 bottle.

Bottle tht 13-03-27. Pours a mostly clear copper body and a dense light beige head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma's of caramel, alcohol, fruit candy (peardrops). Retronasal follows this mostly, the fruitiness a bit more pronounced. Above medium bodied. Long finish.

Ruby beer, filmy head. Rich aroma of caramel, dried fruit. Flsvour is like a big rich fruit cake, with dried fruit, caramel and boozy warmth, just a little alcohol burn but it's mostly very sweet and smooth but not sickly. A massive warming boozy cuddle of a barley wine. Fruity, cakey, spicey and delicious.
