15% abv version, dated aug 24, 2011. I had it last year sometime, so figure 13 years old. The bottle says to enjoy within 25 years. It’s an amber brown pour. No head. Low carbonation. This is very oxidized. The wax didn’t prevent that. Sweet and slightly smoky. I’ve got to think this has aged well past its prime. I’d suggest much fewer than the 25 year best by recommendation on the bottle.

[as De Molen Bommen & Granaten (Bombs & Grenades), ABV 11%. BBE 2031] Bottiglia.

On the occasion of Peter’s 20th. Dirty amber with a thin, frothy head. Vinous aroma. Champagne, mandarine but also honey and a touch of caramel. Taste is sweet in the direction of a sweet sherry. Faint tartness at the finish. Full-bodied, mild carbonation.

(Bottle) Not a pretty beer. It’s murky amber amber brown with a small loose off-white head. Lovely complex aroma with toffee, banana, stone fruit, cloves. Good mouthfeel too. Full bodied, smooth, slightly sticky with very fine carbonation. Great taste too with good complexity. It’s quite sweet, mostly a very toffee sweetness. There’s some pleasant orange citrus and white grape notes. There’s some spice notes too - clove, pepper. A little and pleasant alcohol bite and hoppy bitter hint in the finish. Very nice.

Bottle. A- Fruity, caramel. A- Amber color, clear liquid, minimal head. T- Citrus rind, caramel, faintly sweet, bitter. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, boozy finish. O- Decent balance of sweetness and bitterness. Really needs some more complexity. Not sure how age has or would've continued to impact this one.
