Bommen & Granaten is the strongest in our range of beers. Sweet, loads of ripe fruits, loads of malts, soft bitterness balancing all the first mentioned. Flavour indication: Malty, ripe fruits, cake Translates as Bombes & Grenades

33cl bottle from Sophie's Beer Store: BB 15th April 2030, 12.2% ABV. Drank at home on 9th June 2022. Deep red hue to the brown body, misty/cloudy look, no head worthy of the name. Rich fruity nose and taste, boozy berries, Port overtones throughout. Nice!

Barley wine is a style that snuck up on me. De Molen, not so much, I’ve always been a fan. In my hand is a 33 cl bottle from a good Vinmonopolet in Bergen ready to be poured, I see a copper colored body with a bare, parchment-tan skim that won’t go away. Delightful nose, a bunch of dark fruit and whole grain bread. The taste is rich with figs, grain, raisin bread, caramel, sorghum, a small hoppy bitterness. Deep and dense, the alcohol is not intruding. As if. A high quality barley wine, expectations met.

Quite the good beer. Almost style defining. Just a middle of the road nothing wrong clean hits all the spots barleywine. Gollem amstelstraat ams (3.8 april 2022) Again at gollem but raamsteeg, but i figure it’s way too sweet.

Bottle 193 - 15.2%. Prune, raisin, brown sugar, caramel malt, alcohol, and hay aroma. Dark brown with minimal head. Very sweet brown sugar, prune, raisin, caramel malt, and mildly bitter alcohol and hay flavor. Good body and balance - no carbonation. Still drinking pretty good.

bottiglia 33 cl, 11,9%, vintage bottled on 30.08.18, schiuma beige quasi inesistente, color ambrato/mogano torbido con lieviti in sospensione, al naso malto miele uvetta sotto spirito caramello zucchero di canna spezie, in bocca è liquorosa piena intenso malto uvetta sotto spirito arancia candita zucchero di canna vino passito, corpo strutturato, carbonatazione piatta, oily, molto dolce bilanciato da un amaro accentuato. L’invecchiamento l’ha fatta diventare una mazzata, Da sorseggiare con calma davanti un camino. Non è il mio stile ma buona. c. Beer-shop.it 21.01.22

Bottle. Clear dark orange with shades of red and an extremely short-lived white/beige head. Aroma of malts, oranges, dried fruit, caramel, hints of marzipan, mulled wine without its spices and just a whiff of alcohol. Taste of malts, dried fruits, caramel, oranges, figs, malt lozenges and brown sugar. Sure it is sweet but herbs and a moderate bitterness keep it in check. Medium Carbonation. Alcoholic warmth is present but not overwhelming. Very balanced. A really nice sipper.

Bottle. Somehow have never rated this - cooking a rabbit stew with it gives me a perfect opportunity. Pours a clear copper with a nice white head. Aroma is intense caramel, crystal malt, herbal notes and lots of prune, molasses, sherry. Lots of dried fruit. Big body, smooth and thick. Flavour is malty and rich, sweet and slightly boozy. Lots of caramel, molasses, and lots of dried fruit (perfect for a stew). Prune and fig especially, with lots of residual sweetness. Finish is boozy and warming, sweet. Whilst some of the BA version may be more interesting this is a very good standard barley wine.
