So the best place to find beers from Oregon is in Yellowknife, right? Right? Well, I’m not one to negotiate on the finer details but here’s a bottle I done found ways up here. This one has a modest head and okay brown-copper body with a decent amount of carbonation. The aroma is lots of toasted bread and little else. The flavour is a lot of caramel and chocolate with a medium finish. Kind of infused. Not bad, but watery on the end and certainly artificial tasting. I’ll drink it like there’s no tomorrow but that does not detract from the fact that it’s a chocolately soda kind of thing.

Appearance- dark brown, ruby tinge, a solid beige foamy head which slowly dissipates. Aroma- very nutty, pecan, hazelnut, caramel hints, malty brown bread. Taste- malty, bready and a bit yeasty, hazelnuts, cocoa, some bite from the hops, smooth and reasonably full mouthfeel. Nutty malty finish. Hints of honey and caramel sweetness. Good stuff.

On tap at Gollem Amstelstraat. Clear, dark red with a thin, creamy, tan head. Sweetish-malty aroma of raisins, chestnuts, nuts and caramel. Sweetish, fruity-malty taste of raisins, nuts, chestnuts, caramel and almond. Sweetish-malty taste of raisins, nuts and caramel, followed by a short, slightly bitter and sweetish finish. Nice!

Bottle (from Koht). Pours brown with beige head. The head doesn’t stay. Aroma is hazelnut, malt, sweetness. Flavor is sweet, hazelnut, malt, caramel. Finish is hazelnut and dry bitterness. Overall: not a fan of brown ales, but this is delicious stuff.

Bottle. A- Nuts, hazelnut, slightly sour. A- Dark brown color, hazy liquid, light brown head. T- Nutty, hazelnut, pecan, subtle dark fruits, watery. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, slightly sweet finish. O- This one dumbfounded me. I poured it into my glass and the head just kept growing and growing like there was miracle grow in this damn beer. I had to spoon it out because it wouldn’t stop building. The hazelnut was certainly there and a lot of it but there was also a weird chemical like aroma and taste that really turned me off. Not even close to what I wanted from this.

Bottle. Brown with a pale beige head that lasts well. Aroma of toffee and hazelnuts, some vanilla. Taste is much the same, only less so. Sweet and rather bland, low bitterness. A little spicy at the end. OK. [edit] The last quarter of the bottle is increasingly disagreeable. Sure smells like freshly roasted hazelnuts though.

Pours clear, dark brown. Small white head. Smell is bit sweet, some chocolate undertone as well as malts. Taste is surprisingly bitter. Hazelnut-cacao strikes in the next move, and against all expectations, this beer can still be called balanced. The hazelnut-flavor strongly builds up the more you drink though, yet with a name like this, what else did you expect? I happen to like the taste so yeah, for me this is quite a good beer ! Average body for the ABV, yet very intense taste. Carbo level is where it should be . On the other hand, I would love a version with less bitterness, perhaps, and a thicker MF. Perhaps also more intense chocolate aroma that is now rather hidden, if not imagined by myself.

Tasted from the tap on the 12/06/2015. Nut brown colour with a good retention and lazing head. The beer is dominated for the Hazelnuts, milk and cocoa. Very good and refreshing. I really like it. Next one please!
