Medium beige head. Clear brown body. Caramelly popcorn aroma with thick rough nutty notes. Dryish roasty nutty popcorn taste. Mid-to-thin body. Mild, soft, slick mouthfeel. Dryish earthy popcorn and perfumy butterscotch aftertaste. Lingering buttery hazelnut and vanilla finish. Awful. Artificial. Drainpour. (0.355l bottle, from Vinbudin Kringlan, Reykjavik. Label said 6.2%.)

Pours dark brown, hazy with a super thin head. Aroma has already some hazelnut, feels like Christmas, super nutty. Taste is also full of hazelnut, loads of vanilla. Doesn’t really feel like a beer but more like a spiced and chilled Christmas drink. Aftertaste is drier, lasts long. Hmm, I am actually not sure if I like this that much, bit too Christmasy for me, wasn’t really expecting this. Hazelnut does not feel very natural as well, more like the flavour I get when I put a few drops of hazelnut extract into my coffee.

Bottle from Free Press, Cambridge..pours an uninviting cloudy milky light brown. Bouquet of burnt coffee, Lotus biscuit spread, hazelnut, cedar. Sweet milk chocolate taste. Thinnish palette. Not perfect but mighty tasty and a joy to drink.

Draught @ NYC Craft Beer Festival. Dark amber color with small foamy whitish head, no clear aroma, medium carbonation, hazelnut taste, long finish with enduring hazelnut aftertaste. Interesting effect of hazelnut.

Dark brown colour. Aroma of caramel and toasted hazelnuts. Flavour is rather sweet but has genuine hazelnut taste. Tastes a bit like a certain posh chocolate. Ooh, ambassador with these Rocher you are really spoiling us.

Bottle from Soho Wine at home. Translucent dark brown pour - a bit light. Thin brown-tan head. Aroma is very English and malty, with a nutty sweetness. Taste is similar - a bit empty though. Some mild bitterness, nuttiness and nutty sweetness. Very very malty. Palate is slightly bubbly but the nuttiness makes it seem richer. Empty taste sort of ruins it for me but not bad.

330ml bottle from Mitsuya’s Liquors in Asagaya, Tokyo. Poured into a a stemmed tulip. Deep brown color with a nice beige head. Nice malty and hazelnut aroma with chocolate undertones. Creamy mouthfeel. Nutty flavors with sweet malt, chocolate, caramel and nice finish with a hint of piney hops. Excellent brown!

A: Somewhat clear mahogany color with 1/4" quickly dissipating head. S: Chocolate malt and that’s about it. Maybe a bark-like essence. Cinnamon? A slight hint of coffee creamer (hazelnut). T: Again chocolatey without any sweetness. A hoppy bite with a hint of roast/toast dark bread. M: Medium body with more carbonation than expected but not enough to distract. I don’t get much of the the nuttiness I remember. O: I thought this was the best stuff in the world back in the 1990s. OK but doesn’t hold up to my memories. Oh well. Rogue seems to have a bit of a reputation problem now and I definitely don’t like their refusal to date their products. I guess I can let this go. Too expensive to be this mediocre.
