Standard American brown ale with light beige, moussy, lacing head and clear, warm, beautiful, deep copper colour. Aroma abounds with toasted malts; impressions of roasted pine nuts and chestnuts dominate, bark, autumn leaves, nutmeg, bitter honey, peanuts, burning wood, caramel, the kind of cocoa powder I used to make chocolate milk with as a child, biscuit, moccha, cardboard. Restrainedly sweetish onset, toasty, smooth and slick with rather thin body and lowish carbonation, nutty and slightly caramelly maltiness, somewhat resinous, peanut- and toasted bread-like till the very end, with some leafy hops adding a mild bitterness. Brown ales will never be my favorite style, but this is an enjoyable, straightforward example, with a pleasant sweet roasted nuttiness as its main theme, lasting for quite a long time after swallowing. Glad I tried this.

Dark reddish-brown color with big head. Hazelnut aroma, lots of hazelnut, caramel, chocolate. Hazelnut chocolate is probably the best way to describe it. Very full-bodied taste but still a light fresh taste. I like it, but it’s a bit too light.

330ml bottle from Dronfield Beer Stop - Cloudy muddy brown body, no head. Nose is dusty nuts, overwhelmingly so. The taste is equally nutty, but not in a good way. Not a fan of this one and rather disappointing.

Bottle. Light brown pour. Aroma of malt and hazelnut, bit too mild. Taste of creamy hazelnut, with some spices, brown malt, pumpkin and a nutty bitter finish. Thin body, but a nice beer.

I first had this on tap at the first World Craft Tasting a few years ago where it was one of my favorites at the festival. A lovely mahoganey brown pour capped with a thin head of beige foam gives off nutty toasted bready aromas with a semi-sweet caramel undertone. Yum. Medium bodied with a dry finish the texture is a touch cola like but nice. The taste is sweeter than I remember with pronounced hazelnut, roastiness & bready mild caramel. Good stuff though not as nice as I recall.

Sehr sehr lecker!

Red-brown clear beer with little head and a sweet nutty malt aroma. Flavour is nutty malt with a touch of caramel and coffee. Light and mellow given its strength.

(bottle, 35.5cl) Ruby brown colour with a beige and short foamy head. Slightly molassy and delicately toasted malty aroma with distinctive and almost perfumed notes of hazelnuts, also toffee and vanilla. Moderately sweet and slightly bitter flavour, medium bodied with a smooth carbonation. Mildly toasted malt character with notes of toffee, chocolate, vanilla and agasin hazelnuts; moderately sweet and slightly toasted malty finish with lasting notes of hazelnuts, chocolate and vanilla in the aftertaste. Not a very subtle beer, nevertheless easy-going and smooth. 01.IX.14
