Entering old rates. 2009 rate. Growler @ CCB. Garde ce profile de Chaveta dont à mon avis l’original était meilleur. Bière reste agréable, maltée avec pas mal de grillé et chocolat, toujours cette pointe d’épice ; réglisse, mais avec ici le côté poivré et boisé du cèdre. Sympa, et encore une fois une bière qui était bien dans son format original.

32oz growler from the brewery pours up very dark with just a bit of brown peaking through right at the edges and nice mocha head. The modest strength aroma emits soft notes of cedar with faint notes of pine to fir tree hops, highly roasted malts, dark chocolate and a sense of caramel. The taste is full and bold with notes of dark roastiness, smooth cedar, dark chocolate and then a dash of caramel. By midway the cedar takes over along with some pine like fir tree hops. Into the finish I get lingering roastiness, cedar, mild pine hops and a bit of dry dark chocolate. Very tasty stuff with a load of flavor.
