An inspired hybrid that blurs the boundaries between IPA and Amber styles. The exceptional blend of American hops (including the harder-to-find Horizon variety) gives it an intense pine, citrus and earthy character in the nose and on the tongue.

On tap at MSP airport. Pours a clear deep red with a tan head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces. Aroma has a good combination of pine hops and bread with a touch of grapefruit. Flavor has pine with a touch of onion with a bread backbone and hint of grapefruit.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 3/11/2013. Pours moderately cloudy reddish copper color with a 1-2 finger dense cream colored head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, grapefruit, orange zest, floral, pine, toast, biscuit, brown sugar, and floral earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of malt and hop notes; with decent strength. Taste of caramel, orange zest, grapefruit, floral, pine, grass, biscuit, brown sugar, and floral earthiness. Fair amount of pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, citrus, citrus zest, floral, pine, grass, biscuit, brown sugar, and floral earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Nice balance and complexity of hop and malt flavors; with a hop forward flavor balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy, sticky, and crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with no warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a nice red ale. Good balance and complexity of hop and malt notes; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Deep amber body. Frothy, off-white head, mostly lasting. Aroma of raw hops, resin, grapefruit, toasted grain, dough. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Resinous, slightly husky. Leafy hop taste from the dry hopping. The hops take center stage in this amber ale. Average.
