Strange aroma that is not very pleasant. Cobwebby, dusty, berries. Mushroomy hop aroma and flavor, this just doesn’t feel like hallertauer. This beer tastes alot like Fat Tire, and I hate Fat Tire! Nice fluffy carbonation though!

Pours a deep orange/amber color with a hint of red sitting below a frothy beige head that laces most of the glass. Smells of caramel, smoke, butter and apricots. Taste is malty with a hint of smoke. Some creamy brown sugar mixed with hints of fruit, and a bit of non-descript smoke and hop bite. Medium body and level of carbonation, watery bordering on creamy mouthfeel. I’m not sure what this beer wants to be. If you told me this was an Oktoberfest I would say its not a good one. Sweet, malty, with a tart fruit and hop bite, sounds like most of the beer that Magic hat brews these days. I could drink this, but its nothing I would seek out.

Pours deep clear amber into a Sam glass. Off-white head recedes to skim surface leaving spot lacing. Dark caramel aromas. Dry with caramel upfront and a lasting smoke and rye finish.

Refrigerated bottle poured into a shaker. Pours clear light amber with medium white head that dissapates fairly slowly. Aroma is earthy musty caramel, medium carbonation, and medium lacing. Taste is earthy musty malt, some caramel, and hops in the finish. More like a poor vienna style lager rather than the octoberfest style that is advertised.

Bottle as shown. Pours a clear copper with a small frothy white head that quickly diminishes to nothing. The aroma is a wet doughy malt and caramel. Thin mouthfeel with a toasty malt and caramel with a nice earthy finish. Easy to drink, a decent vienna from Magic Hat.

Sampled on draft at the Rivertown Pub this beer poured a dark orange-amber color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma was perfume, windex and a bit of tart apple. The flavor was tart with prominent windex and perfume and a bit of tangy apple. The finish was long, sour, tart and bitter. Thin body. Not good at all.

Key Food, Brooklyn six-pack ($10.50): Pours a murky light brown with a very slightly off-white head. The aroma is slightly fruity, with plenty of malts. Certainly does veer away from Oktoberfest style while keeping the basic core of the style. Taste is a little sweet and has a tough caramel, malty backbone, but there is a dry hop bitterness throughout that lingers to the end and the aftertaste as well.
