We like to call this a Northwest Amber Lager, but it is often categorized as a Vienna style lager. The beer originally started out resembling a Steam Beer style beer, but we’ve slowly been dropping the fermentation temperature to the point where it’s really just a lager beer, and too smooth, to fit that category. The color looks like a Vienna style lager, but the amount and type of hops, and the grain bill are quite different. We use Magnum and Cascade hops in this beer, and they blend well with the American (51%), German (43%) and British (6%) malts we use. The beer features strong hop character, along with smooth malt, caramel, and toffee flavors and aromas, with a refreshing bite in the finish. This beer goes really well with pulled pork and brisket.

Bottle. Pours with a hazed orange hued body with a slightly off-white head. Aromas are fruity, bready, orange, citrusy, spicy, hoppy. Toasted malt and some caramel. Flavors are bready, toasty, cornnuts, nutty (nearly a victory like malt character). Some floral and citrusy hop character. Lively carbonation with a dry finish.

22 oz. bottle, pours a clear amber with a small off-white head. Nose is fully of dry woody caramel malts, some dry pilsner-like hops and bready tones. Flavour follows almost exactly the same, with dry, slightly woody, caramel malts, bready malts and a wonderful dry hoppy bite on the finish. Exceedingly drinkable and pretty much the pinnacle of this style. Solid stuff.

This just isn’t fair - sure, your pils was out of this world, but your Vienna, too? - a truly lovely balance of crisp, crackery malt and spicy hops - again, like the pils, words do not do you justice - underlying toffee and toasty malt richness, while still retaining a dry, crisp character - full and refreshing at the same time - I want a pint of this every day for the rest of my life - it just isn’t fair.

Courtesy of sebletitje, pours clear copper with micro thin white head. The aroma has mild level of pine hops mixing with rough earthiness and spiciness. The taste has an even mix of citrus, pine hops, some roasty malts and earthiness. By about midway there is an island of malt graininess before the hops and modest roast return to wipe away the grains into the finish.
