Winter Warmer
Nutcracker Ale is Boulevard’s holiday gift for real beer lovers. This hearty, warming brew is a classic winter ale, deep amber in color, with hints of molasses balanced by the spiciness of Chinook hops.

Bottle. Copper in color with a three and half finger head. I'm sorry but to me this is an Imperial IPA.

2024 bottle from Livonia Liquor. Pours a clear, dark amber with a finger of beige head that dissipates quickly. Herbal hop aromas on the nose and toasted caramel as it warms. Palate shows more herbal, peppery hops with black tea, bark and dark molasses. Finishes with more tea, caramel, peppercorn and herbal hop flavors that linger.

Bottle. Brownish-copper pour with a big foamy khaki colored head that has good lasting power. The aroma is fresh sawn woods, grains and mild spices. The taste is lightly toasted grains, toffee, some red fruits, and bitter walnuts The palate is full and viscous with soft carbonation. Finishes long with lingering bitter nuts and pine. Overall: Decent winter warmer.

Random grab. I always liked winter warmers and seems out of vogue. Pretty mahogany pour with lovely puffy head. Nose is faint fruits and spice. The spice is quite subdued on taste buds you get fruit cake, touch of spice, some rubbing alcohol. Slick palate.

Bottle pour into shaker pint glass from Total Wine & More, Danvers. Appearance is lightly hazy (lots of fine particulates in suspension) red-dark amber with trace sparkle, finger-width creamy beige head with excellent retention and decent soapy lacing. Aroma is pumpernickel bread. Taste follows aroma but less intense. Mouthfeel is medium side of light-to-medium bodied with smooth, creamy texture, average-to-lively carbonation and dry, fairly crisp finish as taste. Overall, pretty much a one-trick pony. No complexity but it is pretty comforting.
