Leinenkugel 1888 Bock, a luscious brew, originally created to serve lumberjacks, will be available for all who want to try its excellent boutique of Caramel, Pale and two-row Chocolate malts. Cluster hops add a touch of citrus character and when combined with Munich malts and a 20- to 25-day cold lagering process, you have a truly timeless beer.

Bottle. Well it’s an ok beer. Taste was slightly malty, watery and not any hops. Didn’t really taste the citrus as in the description. Aroma was slightly roasted grain and some earthy notes. Color a medium amber color. Might drink again but would not reach for it first.

Though retired, here’s my take on this.
This was poured into a pilsener.
The appearance was a hazy brown color with a two finger white to off white foamy and bubbly head. Light speckled lacing slides into the beer.
The smell had some roasted nutty to caramel malts with a slight brown sugar in it.
The taste was mainly sweet with a weird soapy flavoring underneath (uh...where did that come from?, ah oh well...).
On the palate, this one sat pretty light for a bock. Sessionable, uh...yes very much so, probably could’ve pounded the entire sixer within two hours.
Overall, uh...honestly, did Leinenkugel’s just pull off a session bock and not tell anyone? Hahaha, in my opinion, they could bring this back some day and call it a \"Session Bock.\" New style, then? Ha, perhaps.

12 oz. bottle from mix 12 pack. Clear brown in color no much retention. Light caramel malt in nose not much else. Flavor is mildly sweet. Real mild. Caramel, biscuit and just a hint of hops. Texture is lightly creamy. Well over all; not real bad. One of the better brews in the 12 pack, whatever that is saying. Bit bland and forgettable.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Aroma is only roasted malt. Nuts, caramel and a very little coffee. Taste is about the same, very malt oriented. Overall, it’s ok. I’m glad it’s only a seasonal.

Refrigerated bottle poured into a shaker. Pours medium brown with crimson highlights and medium beige head that fades fairly quickly. Medium carbonation, medium lacing, and medium body. Taste is toasty malt, nuttyness, and a hint of caramel.

At a party: Pours a reddish brown color with a light brown head. This beer actually really surprised me because I was bracing for the worst (my only other experience is with the dreadful summer shandy and sunset wheat). In any case, it wasn’t really that bad. Aroma of roasted malts and a little burnt touch. The taste was a bit smoky, with the roasted malts at the forefront. The body had some character as well. I wouldn’t buy it again, but was surprised by what this brewery could do if they put some effort into it.

Pours a clear brown with a smallish beige head that sticks around for a while. Smells of bread, sugar and caramel. Not very strong in anything, but mostly malt. Taste is a bit better. Caramel and brown sugar mixed with some burnt sugars meld very well. Bit of a bitter and then alcohol bite in the finish. Taste is very sweet, mouthfeel is the same sweet and sticky. Carbonation is high, body is medium. This one is ok, it has some bock character to it, but its not the real deal. There is nothing offensive here, it certainly is drinkable. Think Michelob amber bock or shiner bock.

12 oz. bottle. Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. The aroma is oranges, bitter chocolate, caramel, ripe bananas, and oak. The flavor is sweet first, with a significant bitterness in the middle. The finish is a mild, lingering bitterness. The palate is medium to heavy with a lot of carbonation. The feel is a little acidic. Overall, a flavorful and interesting beer.
