Bottle. Golden color, nice head and good lace. Citrus, hoppy flavor with good malt balance. Aroma is citrus.

Nice slightly hazy golden amber in colour with a 1 finger head of foam. Good lacing.

The smell has a lot of different hoppy characteristics with fruity-citrus, grassy, and floral notes. There's some malt there as well but it's really faint to my nose.

The taste is bitterly harsh. Grapefruit, grass, spice, a faint bready malt presence just before the finish, err...this one is tres bitter and it actually puts some heat on the back of my throat.

It's light bodied and the carbonation is medium. It finishes with big bitterness and a slightish fruity tartness the latter of which I favour.
Btw, head retention is pretty good.

Overall, this is a decidedly difficult brew for me. I don't get any balance at all and the flavours go into territory that my palate doesn't like. Oh well, I'm still glad I got a chance to try it.

This was poured into a nonic pint glass.
The appearance was a nice looking semi-hazy burnt yellow to orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute leaving some light lacing speckling the sidesof the glass.
The smell had a strong presence of sweet caramel malts making up most of the aroma but still allowing a light citrus bittersweetness.
The taste was definitely better as the bittersweet citrus hops come forward more to blend nicely with the caramel malts. A light sweet sticky citrus to caramel aftertaste leads to a dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation seemed good for the style and for me. Bitterness is there and rolls nicely over my tongue.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good AIPA for the taste and palate. Probably could use a bit more in the aroma but could also be a decent food beer as well.

Argh. Nose hinted at some floral hops and caramel malts, fairly simple in construction, but also moreso diacetyl. Flavor was dominated by diacetyl with some spicy hops skirting the edges, and a sweet malt base. Misery Bay indeed.

Thanksgiving day lunchtime warm up, bottle split at Christine and DAves thanks to DLJ, 28/11/13. Hazed golden amber with a moderate off white covering. Nose is grassy, citric tang, orange, light hop profile, touch of caramel maltiness. Taste comprises caramel malt, orange pith, light grapefruit, sprinkle of sucre, a little subdued overall. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, grassy bitterness in the finish with a limted hop presence. Mediocre IPA.

12oz bottle. Poured a pretty clear golden color. Some light spicy grains, wheat notes, light yeast. Flavor was grains, sweet malts. Not too much in terms of hops, some earthy notes.

Bottle on 01/02/2011. Clear amber body with a medium frothy off-white head. Sweet floral and earthy hop aroma. Dry earthy and bitter flavor with some caramel. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

Bottle at John’s tasting. Pours clear amber. White head. Nose and taste of caramel malt, hops and a dry pinewood finish. Standard.
