This robust dark ale is surprisingly smooth and drinkable. Caramel, molasses and chocolate flavors fill the palate. Its sweet start is perfectly balanced by a roasted dry finish.

On Tap at BJ’s Reno Location. Pours out a dark brown with a little red topped with a tan head. Aroma of light chocolate and some coffee. Tast a nice roast malt and some sweetness.

Drank at the Westwood, CA location. Brown sugar and cofee in the aroma. Brown body with hardly any retention to the off-white head. Watery coffee taste. Watery mouthfeel, easy to drink.

On tap at the pinellas location. Dark beer roasty aroma. Beautiful lacing on this brew. Barely any carbonation on the palate. More bitter than I care for in porter yet it has an attractive personality that keeps me tasting. Dark charcoal flavors. Overall a good example of a dark beer. Not exceptionally oppressive.

Draft at BJ’s Pinellas Park, FL. Deep amber color with long lasting mocha head. The aroma is light but nice with molasses, roasted malts and chocolate malts. Yummy. The flavor hits you with roasted to burnt malts and coffee. I can also just sense the alcohol. Also in the mix is a chocolate note creating a bit more complexity.

Sample at the Columbus location. This beer is a dark reddish-brown color with a dense light tan head that has good retention. Spotty lacing on the glass. Roasty aroma with some coffee and nutty notes. Medium-bodied with a toasted malt and coffee flavor, as well as a bit of chocolate. The finish is dry and roasty with a mild hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

Aroma of roasted malt, with hints of chocolate. Clear dark brown color with some beige head. A bit watery. Starts with toasted malt, very little hop, not all that much chocolate. The malt carries through the finish.

Draught at the brewpub, Plano TX
Dark brown color; persistent thin head. Some roasted malt aroma and taste, with caramel taste as well; sweeter and less biting than the Bock (which is a Stout), brewed less well, still drinkable.
