Michelob Porter is brewed using the finest classic aroma hop varieties grown in the Pacific Northwest United States and two-row, caramel and chocolate barley malts, giving it an aroma of coffee and a hint of chocolate. It is dark brown in color and, when held to light, ruby-red highlights can be seen. The porter complements a variety of cheeses, shellfish dishes as well as chocolate desserts, and is best enjoyed when served in a traditional pub style glass.

When I first tried this beer. I had to do a double take. This is supposed to be an A-B product? Here again, I am impressed. Yes, I know there are many porters out there that are better, but considering what it is, it’s very good. Aroma is coffee and roasted malt. Appearance is a medium to dark brown. Flavor, wonderful for what it is. I can’t believe I’ve not tried this one sooner!

12oz bottle from Pick’s poured into an English Pint. Born on the 349th day of 2009. This one has been in my fridge for a while. Pours a very dark brown, almost black with almost no head. Has a very nice chocolate and coffee aroma. Taste is light sweet and medium bitter. Strong coffee taste. Medium bodied with a thin yet creamy texture. Fizzy carbonation and a long coffee finish. Overall, this is a pretty damn good beer. I’m sure if you kept the beer the same but took off the Michelob name and added the name of Sierra, Stone, FFF, CC, Mikkeller or any other brewery known for good beer it would have a much higher rating.

Enjoyed at my cousin’s house for his son’s 2nd birthday party. When he gave this to me I was a bit hesitant, but he said it wasn’t bad and they do not get many porters in his area. I’d agree, not bad stuff, kinda thin for a porter but still contains those chocolate malts with a bit of coffee.

12 fl oz bottle from Total Wines & More, Clearwater, FL. On January 22, 2011Clear dark brown color, big light brown head. Sweet, malty, chocolate, metallic scent, some apples. Sweet, vinous, raissin, chocolate taste. Chocolate aftertaste. Medium thin mouthfeel, low bitterness.

12 oz bottle. Aromas of chocolate, caramel; sweet. Pours deep, deep brown with reddish tints. Tastes like an English-style porter; toasted malt, sweet. Creamy mouthfeel. Maybe slightly watery, but not bad at all. These Michelob beers constantly surprise me. Most of the time, these specialty beers from AB are pretty much mediocre to terrible, but every now and then they make a pretty good beer.

Bottle as shown. Pours a very dark brown with a medium creamy light tan head. The aroma is a roasted malt with coffee and caramel. Decent spotty lacing along the glass. Thin mouthfeel and a bit watery on the palate. Taste is roasted malt with dark chocolate and caramel. Easy to drink, a decent porter from Michelob.

Brown sugar and date aroma, slightly piney. Deep dark brown and considerably clear, with a thin beige head. Woody, quite bitter with a tang. Full mouthfeel leaving a wonderful blend of dried leaves and espresso on the palate. Some very nice qualities for an ABIB product.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with ruby highlights and a huge creamy medium brown head. The aroma was sweet, toasty, chocolate and a touch of licorice. The flavor was bitter, toasty, malty and had light notes of chocolate, vanilla, ripe fruits and roasty malts. The mouthfeel was fairly creamy and full. It would probably score better on this site if it were tasted blind. Well done.

Pours deep mahogany into a shaker. Fluffy off-white head with good retention leaves spotted sheets as it slowly recedes to coat surface. Cocoa and coffee aromas. Crisp and thin with chocolate upfront and a sour mocha finish.
